Australia's goods exports rose sharply in March as the resource-rich country shipped more iron ore to China and more gold to Hong Kong and the UK, preliminary data on Thursday showed.The Australian Bureau of Statistics said exports of goods jumped 29% in original terms in March to A$36.1 billion ($22.79 billion), following declines in January and February.Exports of non-rural goods rose A$4.8 billion, or 20%, with a notable increase in iron ore shipments to China, while exports of non-monetary gold climbed by A$2.5 billion…

The Port of Cork in Ireland has signed a collaboration agreement with the Port of Amsterdam International, a deal which will see both ports look to strengthen each other.Ireland is an important trading partner for the Netherlands. In 2017, the country exported over 5.5 billion euros of goods to the Netherlands. This makes the Netherlands the sixth biggest export destination for Irish goods.In the same year, Ireland imported over 3.5 billion euros worth of goods from the Netherlands. A ceremony will be held July 29 at Cenac Marine Services headquarters in, Houma, La. To commemorate the christening of its newest vessel, M/V Quincey Cenac, as well as the company’s donation of a spud barge to Terrebonne Parish. The newest addition to Cenac’s growing fleet, M/V Quincey Cenac is the 24th and final vessel in its most recent series. Cenac Marine Services said a new series of vessels is in development for the near future. The donated spud barge will be utilized by the parish to transport equipment for levee conservation and upkeep.

Mammoet’s Dutch operations switch to Shell gas-to-liquids fuel: expected to lower emissions, noise levels and contribute to local air quality. Mammoet, a service provider specializing in engineered heavy lifting and transport, will use cleaner-burning Shell gas-to-liquids (GTL) fuel to power all its cranes and trucks in the Netherlands. The switch is expected to reduce emissions and help improve local air quality as well as lowering noise levels compared with conventional diesel.

With the delivery of five Rubber-Tire Gantry Cranes (RTGs) and two Ship-to-Shore (STS) gantry cranes capable of handling Ultra-Large Containerships (ULCS) of up to 16,000 TEU capacity, the new 1.3 million TEU deep-water APM Terminals Izmir facility is nearing completion in anticipation of beginning commercial operations in early 2016. One more STS crane and five additional RTGs are scheduled to arrive in December, bringing the container handling equipment complement to three ULCS-ready STS cranes and 10 technologically advanced RTGs. The opening of the new container terminal on Turkey’s Aegean coast, which will become Turkey’s biggest container terminal in the Aegean Region serving Istanbul and southern Turkey…

South Korean shipbuilders, led by industry leader Hyundai Heavy Industries Co., clinched the largest amount of new orders in May, retaining the top spot for the fourth consecutive month, BusinessKorea reported based on industry sources, including Clarkson Research Services. Data shows a total of 90 orders for tankers were placed worldwide during the first five months of this year, and 58 of them went to Korean shipbuilders while Chinese and Japanese shipbuilders took 18 and 14, respectively. Japanese rivals took orders worth 400,000 CGTs, followed by Chinese ones with 220,000 CGTs, the data showed. South Korea has retained its status as the world’s leading shipbuilding country in terms of new orders since February.

Mammoet announces it has been awarded the heavy lift and heavy haul contract for the Cameron LNG project in Hackberry, Louisiana. The multi-billion dollar project will be comprised of three natural gas liquefaction trains with approved liquefied natural gas (LNG) export capacity of 1.7 billion cubic feet per day. “We are very happy to work on one of the most important LNG export projects on the Gulf Coast” said Robert Roest, Sales Director of Louisiana at Mammoet. “By contracting Mammoet as main supplier for the lifting and transport equipment, the project will save significant time due to central coordination that leads to optimization of all engineered heavy lifting and transport activities”.

Team Niinivirta, a Finnish family-run transportation firm, turned 60 this year, but its third-generation managers now don't know if the business will see Christmas, because of Russia's new ban on European food imports. The firm based in Kotka, on the Gulf of Finland opposite Saint Petersburg, was using its 12 refrigerated trucks to ship 80 loads a month of Finnish milk products to Russia. But the ban on imports of dairy products, fruit, vegetables, meat, and fish from Europe has brought work for Niinivirta and similar specialist local truckers to a near standstill.

Marine waterjet manufacturer NAMJet says it has been contracted to provide propulsion systems for Birdon America's US Army Bridge Erection Boat (BEB) 400-boat replacement platform. At the same time NAMJet announces its manufacturing and operational HQ has moved to Denver, Colorado. Bridge Erection Boats are primarily used to provide propulsion and maneuverable thrust to support temporary floating bridges often made necessary when existing bridge crossings have been destroyed in military conflict.

Steel and grain exports continue to flow from key global supplier Ukraine via Black Sea terminals with ports operating normal schedules, despite concerns raised by the tense political backdrop, officials and traders said on Tuesday. Ukraine exports grain, steel, coal, chemicals, fuel and petroleum products, machinery and transport equipment. Its ports have shipped some 22.7 million tonnes of various cargoes since the start of 2014, roughly equal to turnover by the same date a year ago. Political instability and violence had caused some traders in Ukraine, the world's third-biggest maize exporter, to hold back from agreeing new contracts, while Russian maize export prices have been rising for two weeks.
