UTLC Launches Service from China to Europe
Russia's JSC United Transport and Logistics Company (UTLC) jointly with KTZ-Express launched a new transport product for the delivery of non-hazardous chemical goods in tank containers from China to Europe as part of the regular container service U West (Dostyk-Brest). The first train, consisting of 82 twenty-foot tank containers, loaded with butylene glycol produced by XINJIANG MARKOR CHEMICAL INDUSTRY, departed from Korla Station (China). The cargo transited through the territories of Kazakhstan, Russia and Belarus and further through Poland through the territories of the EU countries to the terminal at the station Duisburg (Germany). UTLC provided a service on a track of 1520 mm at the section Dostyk - Brest.
ACL Expands Warehouse Space Shipping by Barge
American Commercial Lines Inc. (NASDAQ: ACLI) announced that they have entered into an industrial development agreement with CNW Resources of Naperville, Ill. CNW Resources is a provider of metallurgical, chemical and foundry products. Under the industrial development agreement, ACL will construct a new warehouse at its barge terminal in Lemont, Ill., located 25 miles southwest of Chicago, to store and transport product for CNW. The new multi-purpose warehouse will significantly increase the indoor storage capacity of the company's Lemont terminal.
Shell to Manage Nakilat’s LNG Fleet
Qatar Gas Transport Company Ltd (Nakilat) has appointed Shell International Trading and Shipping Company Limited (Shell) to manage its fleet of at least 27 new LNG carriers in a 25-year deal. Under this arrangement it is expected that Operational Management will be transferred to Nakilat within 12 years. The agreement will involve Shell providing a range of shipping services to Nakilat including ship management as well as the transfer of know how and expertise to allow Nakilat to develop its own LNG Ship Management Company in Qatar, a news release said. Collar Appointed Vice President, Special Projects
Crowley Maritime Corporation veteran Steve Collar has joined Marine Transport Corporation as Vice President, Special Projects effective July 1. He is domiciled in Marine Transport's Weehawken, NJ, headquarters and reports to Jeff Miller, Vice President, Chartering. Crowley acquired Marine Transport, a U.S.-based supplier of chemical parcel transportation, refined petroleum transportation, crude oil lightering, and ship management, in February. Collar, most recently Director of Special Projects for Crowley's Vessel Management Services subsidiary, will be responsible for helping Marine Transport and its subsidiary companies develop and market Marine Transport's fleet renewal and expansion projects, and will commercially manage selected vessels.
