Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers Welcomes New Senior Officers

The Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers has officially welcomed its new senior officers at a Controlling Council meeting held in Athens, Greece.Taking over from Glenn Murphy as International Chair of the Institute is Luis Bernat. Prior to his election as Chair, Bernat has held the position of Vice Chair since 2021. He brings to the role extensive experience gained over almost 50 years in the industry. This includes, most recently, his role as Chartering Manager for TSL Shipping & Trading.

Wärtsilä Helping with Decarbonization of Orient Express' Bulk Carriers

Finland-based marine technology group Wärtsilä will partner with Transworld Group to apply what it says are the most advanced decarbonization modeling capabilities to the bulk carriers sector of Orient Express lines of Dubai.Orient Exrpress is owned by Transworld Group and Managed by Transworld Ship Management (TWSM), one of India's premium private sector ship management firms. The project aims to provide decision-making support by simulating the impact of efficiency upgrade technologies on the vessel’s environmental performance.

Shreyas Shipping Buys Three Container Ships

Shreyas Shipping and Logistics Ltd, the Indian-flagged vessel-owning firm of Transworld Group of companies said Tuesday that it had acquired three container vessels within just one week. The three vessels have been renamed as SSL Godavari, SSL Kaveri, and SSL Thamirabarani, and according to VesselFinder.com, the vessels' previous names were Windermere, TS MANILA, and Sky Pride, respectively.The SSL Godavari has a capacity of 2,872 TEUs, while the SSL Kaveri and SSL Thamirabarani have a capacity of 2,553 TEUs and 962 TEUs, respectively. Shreyas Takes Delivery of Three Vessels

Indian flagged vessel owning unit of Dubai-headquartered Transworld Group Shreyas Shipping and Logistics (SSL) announced that the company has taken deliveries of its three vessels.   In a stock exchange filing the container feeder owning and operating company said that it has taken deliveries of M.V. SSL Ganga (container vessel - 1500 teus), M.V. SSL Brahmaputra (container vessel - 4200 teus) and M.V. SSL Balaji (multipurpose vessel - 650 teus).   The company has also entered into Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for sale of one vessel - SSL Sagarmala.   The company began primarily to fill the gap for container feeder between Indian ports and internationally renowned transshipment ports such as Dubai, Khorfakkan, Jebel Ali, Colombo and Singapore.

Shreyas Shipping Acquires Balaji Shipping

India’s Shreyas Shipping and Logistics has approved plans for its subsidiary Shreyas Relay Systems (SRS) to acquire 99.9% of Balaji Shipping Lines from Transworld Holding (TWH). Shreyas Shipping said that consequent to the said issue, the company would hold less than 50 percent of the shareholding in SRS. It also said that as consideration for deal, the company will issue fully paid up equity shares to TWH. Shreyas Acquiring Additional Vessels to Expand Fleet

Mumbai-based Shreyas Shipping and Logistics Ltd (SSL), part of global conglomerate Transworld Group, has acquired two container ships to boost its fleet to 8 vessels from earlier 6 vessels. In a filing to the stock exchange, the company said that the newly acquired ships would be plying in domestic as well as international waters. The company also plans to introduce additional 5two vessels within a years’ time. SSL Bharat with a capacity of 2,959 Twenty-Foot Equivalent Units (TEUs) of containers was delivered at Jebel Ali, Dubai, on Thursday. IR Class Launches Advisory Committee

IRClass (Indian Register of Shipping) has established a senior level advisory committee in the United Arab Emirates in an effort to increase activity and foster business links in the region. The committee comprises of 11 senior representatives from the shipping industry in UAE and is headed by Leonard B Culas, who is the MD of the Transworld Group based in Dubai. The committee will meet on a half yearly basis in order to give high level strategic advice to IRS on how the organization can deepen and strengthen its business links and activities in UAE.

2nd WISTA India Forum Receives Strong Support

On 23rd January 2015, the Royal Mumbai Yacht Club saw around a hundred dignified members of the shipping fraternity gather for the second WISTA Annual Forum, an event that lived up to the industry’s expectations. The select crowd included long-term supporters of WISTA India and WISTA members, as well as members who flew down from Delhi, Chennai, Cochin and Bengaluru especially for this conference. Transworld Signs Record Shipbuilding Contract

Transworld Group of Companies (TGC), an international logistics and shipping specialist, announced in December that it had awarded a $80m shipbuilding contract to Guangzhou Wenchong Shipyard (GWS) in a ceremony held at the company's headquarters in Jebel Ali Free Zone, Dubai. The group is aiming to strengthen its fleet to address the growing demand for sea cargo transportation and fully leverage the booming shipping and maritime industry in the Middle East. The 175 metre ships are custom-built with two 45-ton safe working load cranes and are designed to hold a maximum capacity of 1740 TEU and speed limit of up to 21 knots. Air Express Acquires Transworld Group

Air Express International Corp. has acquired the Transworld group of companies, a project forwarder, according to AEI officials. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Transworld, based in Houston, will operate as a separate division within AEI Ocean Services and be called AEI Project Services.
