Kalmar Delivers ASC cranes for TraPac in Los Angeles

Kalmar, part of Cargotec, has received an order from TraPac, Inc. to deliver two new 5th generation Kalmar automatic stacking cranes (ASCs) for the expansion of TraPac's automated terminal in Los Angeles. The cranes will join a fleet of 27 Kalmar ASCs and 28 Kalmar automated straddle carriers managed by the Kalmar TLS equipment control system. The new ASCs will be delivered in 2016 and they are expected to be commissioned by the end of 2016. Troy Thompson, Vice President, Ports and Terminals, at Kalmar Americas, commented, "Our partnership with TraPac has led to the development of the 5th generation Kalmar ASC, which combines together all the experience gained during the first phase of the project.

Port of LA's TracPac RMG Cranes to be Integrated by Kalmar

Kalmar, part of Cargotec, has been awarded a contract for the integration of the controls for the new rail mounted gantry (RMG) cranes at the intermodal yard of TraPac Inc's terminal at the Port of Los Angeles. Kalmar explain that the RMGs will be supplied to TraPac by PACECO with the Kalmar Terminal Logistic System (TLS) ensuring they are integrated in the automated operations. TLS is part of the Kalmar SmartPort equipment automation portfolio. The intermodal yard is a substantial part of the terminal, with 30 percent of the TEUs shipped inland by rail.

Automated Container Crane for TraPac Rail Terminal

Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. (Pres. Takao Tanaka) has received an order for two automated container cranes for railroad terminal from TraPac, Inc.. which is Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd.’s U.S. affiliated company, through MES’s U.S. affiliated company, PACECO Corp. At the container terminal that TraPac Inc. operates in Port of Los Angeles, is now being constructed for extension and alongside that, the automation of container handling equipments is being carried on as well.

Cargotec's Kalmar Receives Major Repeat Order From TraPac

Cargotec's Kalmar has won a major order to supply 17 automated stacking cranes and 11 automated straddle carriers for leading terminal services provider TraPac Inc, a subsidiary of Mitsui OSK Lines, in Los Angeles, USA. The equipment is scheduled for delivery in 2015 and early 2016. The parties have agreed not to disclose the value of the order. More Than $127 Million Approved for Port of Los Angeles Construction

Projects Advance Modernization of the TraPac Container Terminal. The Los Angeles Board of Harbor Commissioners has approved construction contracts totaling more than $127 million for two major projects that advance modernization of the marine container terminal operated by longtime tenant, TraPac, Inc. With work due to begin in January, the projects are key elements of the Port of Los Angeles’ overall capital improvement program. Cargotec Names Kho Senior Vice President

Cargotec appoints Frank Kho to lead terminal solutions development and container terminal projects. Mr. Kho brings with him over 20 years of industry experience in several senior management positions at world's leading port operators, such as the Antwerp terminals of PSA and several terminals of HPH. He has headed container operations with significant operational efficiencies in cost per unit moved and, most notably, with improved service levels. In Cargotec, Mr Kho will be responsible for leading the development of new solutions to enable customers' business processes run better as well as for defining and integrating solutions to specific needs of greenfield and brownfield container terminal projects.

Cargotec Wins U.S. Port Automation Contract

Cargotec has won a contract to supply ten state-of-the-art Kalmar automatic stacking cranes and 17 customer specific automatic shuttle carriers to leading terminal services' provider TraPac Inc, in Los Angeles, USA. The equipment will be delivered to TraPac Inc, a subsidiary of Mitsui OSK Lines, in 2012 and 2013. The parties have agreed not to disclose the value of the order. The order has been booked in the third quarter of 2011. Lennart Brelin, Cargotec Executive Vice President, Americas said this order reinforced the company's position as a leading supplier in port automation.

MOL Renews Lease for LA Container Terminal

Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL, President: Akimitsu Ashida) announced that its wholly owned terminal operator TraPac, Inc. (Headquarters: Los Angeles, California, U.S.) renewed its long-term lease contract for a container terminal at the Port of Los Angeles. The signing ceremony for the new contract was held on October 15, with participation by the Interim Deputy Mayor of the City of Los Angeles Romel Pascual. Under the new pact, the terminal’s total space will be extended to 1.3 times the current area. The number of berths will also increase.

APS Terminal Automation at Dames Point

APS Technology Group (APS) announced that TraPac, Inc. will deploy several of APS' terminal automation solutions at its new container terminal at Dames Point in Jacksonville, Florida. The 158 acre facility will include 6 post-panamax quay cranes, 6 Rubber Tired Gantry (RTG) cranes and an 18-lane automated gate complex. The project includes APS solutions to automate the identification and check-in of containers, chassis and truck license plates at each gate lane. In an effort to provide a safer working environment, TraPac will also become the first East Coast terminal to deploy OCR automation within its vessel and yard operations. Here APS will provide its Crane OCR and MatchMaker systems, which automatically identify containers and internal tractors at each quay crane and RTG.
