Travelers Appoints Bill Queen as President of Ocean Marine

The Travelers Companies, Inc. announced that Bill Queen has been named President of Travelers Ocean Marine. In this role, Queen is responsible for the overall leadership and management of the Travelers Ocean Marine business. "Bill's extensive management experience has prepared him well for this role," said Jim Chapman, President of the Travelers First Party Group. Since joining the First Party Group four years ago, Queen has become increasingly involved with the Ocean Marine organization.

Martino is responsible for the overall leadership and management of Travelers Ocean Marine, which provides highly specialized property and liability insurance products for maritime-oriented risks including commercial hulls, cargo, luxury yachts, port authorities, shipbuilders and numerous other specialized exposures.

Travelers Develops New Marine Construction Insurance Package

Whether building piers and docks, repairing bridges or retrofitting port facilities, construction contractors experienced in working along the waterfront are in demand. To help construction contractors manage both the marine and non-marine exposures that come with working in and around the water, Travelers has developed the Marine Construction program, an insurance package that combines specialized underwriting, risk mitigation solutions and claim services. “Construction contractors who work around the waterfront face a number of complex risks when managing marine, non-marine and contractual liability exposures,” said Virginia Cameron, Chief Underwriting Officer, Travelers Ocean Marine.

LIG Marine Managers 2011 CMIP Seminars

LIG Marine Managers’ sister company, LIG Educational & Consulting Services, in conjunction with the International Institute for Marine Insurance Studies, announced the 2011 CMIP Seminar Schedule for those individuals working towards earning the Certified Marine Insurance Professional (CMIP) Designation. The designation is designed for agents, brokers, CSRs, Insurance Company Personnel, Underwriters or other insurance industry professionals who wish to expand their knowledge of Commercial Marine Insurance. The CMIP Designation requires attendance at four 2½-day Seminars and passing a short exam at the end of each Seminar. The first of the 2011 CMIP Seminars, “Fundamentals of Marine Insurance” will be held in Tampa, Fla. April 13-15, 2011.

Globalization Keeps Future Bright for Shipping

The economic storm signals are all around us: the wild swings in stock markets globally, the contraction of credit availability worldwide and the frequent use of the dreaded “R” word.
