Fred. Olsen to Install TWB II Turbines

Offshore wind farm vessels provider Fred. Olsen Windcarrier announced that its jack-up vessel Blue Tern has been contracted to finish installing the remaining 11 Senvion 6.2M152 turbines on the Trianel Windpark Borkum II (TWB II).“We are looking forward to working with our new client and to get the chance to support the finalization of the Trianel wind farm with our jack-up vessel Blue Tern. Blue Tern is ideal for this project due to her capacity”, said Kristina Pind Løvgren, Head of Nautical, Fred. Olsen Windcarrier.Kristina added: "Our related company, Global Wind Service, is already on the project and delivers technicians, QA and Site Management for the installation and mechanical completion of the turbines.

Germany's First Operations Centre for Wind Farms

The 24/7 centre’s first customer is municipal utility Trianel who will use the base for the under-construction 200MW Borkum West 2 wind farm in the North Sea inform '4C Offshore'. The centre, to be based in Emden, will be equipped with tailored IT solutions for offshore wind operations, maintenance and logistics. “OutSmart’s Offshore Operations Centre in Emden fills in the requirements of all operational aspects of our Borkum West 2 Offshore wind park,” said Trianel managing director Klaus Horstick. OutSmart, an independent service provider for off and onshore wind farms, said it was seeking to capitalise on current activity in the German North Sea.

Successful Launch Ceremony for Neptune

The launch ceremony for the NEPTUNE took place on 23 September 2011 at the IHC Merwede shipyard in Krimpen aan den IJssel, The Netherlands. The self-elevating heavy-lift jack-up vessel is being built by IHC Merwede for GeoSea NV, the offshore marine construction specialist company within the DEME Group, based in Belgium. The contract for the detailed design, construction and delivery of the vessel was signed between GeoSea and IHC Merwede on 16 September 2010 and the keel was laid on 25 March 2011.

Offshore Contract for Noble Denton and GL

Noble Denton and Germanischer Lloyd (GL) will support European leading utilities cooperative Trianel GmbH with technical support and project management of its 400 MW offshore wind farm Borkum West II. The installation of the first phase is scheduled to start in 2011/2012. It consists of 40 of the planned 80 turbines on the site and the Offshore Substation. The wind farm will be located approximately 45 km north of the German island of Borkum. The site is immediately adjacent to the smaller Alpha Ventus site which is currently under development. Noble Denton will support Trianel during the pre-construction phase project development and will be in charge with the appropriate project management systems.
