Australian Pump, an Australian designer and manufacturer of high-pressure cleaning equipment, was chosen to design and build 4,000 psi high pressure water blasters for Sydney’s Garden Island Dockyard. The machines, called the Aussie Atlas, feature an all stainless steel construction and produce a 4,000 psi 16 liter per minute performance. Designed for working on a wide range of vessels in the dry dock, the machines offer fast and efficient cleaning.With up to 30 machines working at any one time in the dock, safety is key.

Earlier this month Sanmar Shipyards delivered a pair of Robert Allan Ltd. designed terminal support/escort tugs to Orkney Islands Council Marine Services, in Scotland. Research Vessel Atair to be Commissioned this Spring

A new liquefied natural gas (LNG) powered survey, wreck-search and research vessel built by German Naval Yards Kiel is currently undergoing installation and finishing works at Fassmer in Berne, Germany prior to being commissioned this spring.Ordered by the German Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency (BSH), the new research vessel will be homeported in Hamburg, replacing the previous Atair, which entered operation in 1987.At 75 meters long and roughly 17 meters wide, the new Atair will be the largest research vessel in the BSH fleet.

MacGregor Wins Orders from Europe

MacGregor Equipment for 2 US T-ATS Ships

Finnish marine cargo handling equipment provider MacGregor has been selected to supply repeat packages of deck machinery equipment for two new US Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) towing, salvage and rescue ships (T-ATS).According to a press release from MacGregor, part of Cargotec, the vessels under construction at Gulf Island Shipyards in Houma, Louisiana, US. MacGregor Completes Rapp Marine Acquisition

MacGregor, part of Cargotec, said it has completed its EUR 16 million ($19.8 million) acquisition of Rapp Marine Group (RMG) after first announcing the deal in December 2017. MacGregor Acquires Rapp Marine

MacGregor, part of Cargotec, has signed an agreement to acquire Rapp Marine Group (RMG) in order to strengthen its offering for the fishery and research vessel segment. The enterprise value of the acquisition was approximately €16 million ($19 million). With RMG, MacGregor is able to expand upon its existing portfolio which already includes various deck handling equipment, such as cranes and booms, to now offer complete solutions with advanced winches and related control systems. "MacGregor has a strategic interest in widening services for customers within fishery and research segment," said Michel van Roozendaal, President, MacGregor. Summit Signs Floating LNG Facility Contract

Summit LNG Terminal, a subsidiary of Summit Power International, signed a USD 100 Million turnkey contract with marine work contractor consortium comprising of Geocean SAS and MacGregor for design, engineering, procurement, fabrication, installation and testing of the Fixed Infrastructure (FI) for its Floating LNG Storage and Regasification Terminal (FSRT) at Moheskhali, Cox’s Bazar. The project completion date is 16 months from the time of signing. The Fixed Infrastructure will consist, among others, of Disconnectable Turret Mooring (DTM) plug for FSRU vessel system with anchors (suction piles), flexible riser with floatation and tether system, control and hydraulic umbilical, PLEM, Stern Mooring System (SMS) of FSRU vessel offshore pipelines and landfall works.

MacGregor Bags Equipment Order for German Research Vessel

MacGregor, part of Cargotec, has signed a contract to supply oceanographic winches and Triplex deck handling systems to a new research vessel being built by the Fassmer shipyard in Berne, Germany. The order was booked into Cargotec's second quarter 2017 order intake. MacGregor equipment deliveries are planned for completion by the end of the first quarter of 2019. The new dual-fuel (LNG) 74m vessel, Atair II, is under construction for the German Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency (BSH).

High-pressure Plunger Pumps with New Drive Tech

KAMAT has fundamentally revised the mechanical powertrain of its triplex plunger pumps for pressures up to 3,500 bar. As a result, the pumps operate much quieter, and the drive systems consume less energy - in particular in combination with a variable speed drive. According to this principle, KAMAT has developed a new powertrain for its high-pressure plunger pumps and has introduced these drives systems successively in all series. The reason for this was the wish of some users to find a low-noise high-pressure pump.

Zumaia Offshore Acqires MPP Workboat Aitana B

In April 2016 Zumaia Offshore, S.L., leading workboat owner and operator based in the Basque Country, took delivery of the Cummins-powered MPP workboat “Aitana B” from Neptune Shipyards in the Netherlands. At 27 by 12-meters with a three-meter draft it is one of the largest models of Neptune’s Eurocarrier series of workboats, which are specifically designed for dredging assistance, port construction & maintenance, dive & ROV support, sea renewables, Geotechnical survey and general offshore support in shallow waters. The range of equipment built into the rectangular platform is remarkable. An accommodation and wheelhouse block set on the port side provides six staterooms, mess and galley for up to 12 people. In addition there is another 150 square meters of clear working deck.

MacGregor to Equip China’s New Polar Research Ship

The Polar Research Institute of China has ordered a new 14,300gt polar research vessel. Designed by Aker Arctic Finland, it will be the first vessel of its type to be built in China, though a shipyard has yet to be named. The 122.5-meter multifunctional icebreaker will be able to handle ice up to 1.5 meters thick, achieving a continuous icebreaking speed of two to three knots. It will have an endurance of 20,000 nautical miles and with a full 90-person crew, it will be able to cruise for 60 days without resupply.

Advanced MacGregor Technology for Polar Research Ship

MacGregor, part of Cargotec, has won an order to supply MacGregor offshore cranes and a Triplex handling system for a 14,300gt polar research vessel being built for the Polar Research Institute of China. Designed by Aker Arctic Finland, it will be the first vessel of its type to be built in China; the shipyard has yet to be named. With three species of migrating cod to fish and new commercial species arriving as oceans warm, Norway is a fisheries Valhalla. Yet, recent boat sales suggest the Scandinavian country’s role is changing. Vessel orders and rules in Norway are propping up yards and designers on Europe’s fringes. Medium-sized hull orders for Romanian, Russian and Turkish boat builders are new, while large vessel orders for Denmark or Spain continue apace. Unconventional Icelandic designs, too, are gaining ground here as catches and profits soar.

MacGregor's Deck Machinery for Sentinel Marine ERRV

MacGregor, part of Cargotec, will supply deck machinery for a new 65m emergency rescue & response vessel (ERRV) for Sentinel Marine. The ship has been designed by Focal Marine & Offshore Pte Ltd and will have a bollard pull of 100 tonnes of FOCAL 552. The order for the complete MacGregor anchor handling solution was booked into the third quarter 2015 order intake. MacGregor will supply a complete deck machinery package including a 200-tonne line pull / 300-tonne brake holding anchor handling towing winch, complete with a hydraulic spooling device, as well as Triplex shark jaws and guide pins. Kalmar RoRo forklifts for Messina Line

Kalmar, part of Cargotec, has clinched a further order to supply seven new Kalmar DCE330-RORO units to the leading Italian shipping firm Messina Line (Ignazio Messina & C S.p.a). The expansion of Messina's fleet has been made in preparation for larger vessels soon coming to their terminal in Genoa, Italy. The order has been booked into Cargotec's first quarter intake, and scheduled for delivery in the second. The Kalmar DCE330-RORO possesses a 33-tonne lifting capacity, free lift mast up to three metres high and 360° visibility; and so is equally at home in the limited space on board ship as it is handling and stacking containers in the terminal yard.

MacGregor Inks Deal with Grupo CBO

MacGregor, part of Cargotec, has secured a contract with the Brazilian shipowner and shipbuilder Grupo CBO. The contract is to supply Triplex deck handling equipment and cranes for four customised Havyard 843 anchor handling tug supply vessels (AHTS). The order was booked into first quarter 2015 order intake. The 81.5m Havyard 843 is a modern anchor-handling vessel with a maximum speed of 16 knots. It has a 400 tonne anchor handling winch and accommodation for up to 30. This Havyard design will be adapted to meet the particular requirements of Brazilian energy company, Petrobras. Two vessels will be built at Grupo CBO's Estaleiro Aliança yard and two at the Estaleiro Oceana yard.

MacGregor's Deck Equipment for Chinese Shipbuilder

MacGregor, part of Cargotec, has won a contract from Chinese shipbuilder Wuhu Xinlian to supply two complete deck equipment packages for a pair of 78m anchor handling, supply and oil recovery vessels. The MacGregor equipment will be installed on the 12,000 bhp, 150 tonne bollard pull vessels under construction for Sentinel Offshore (L) Limited. Equipment delivery is scheduled during August and September 2015. The contract follows a similar order from Wuhu Xinlian placed in August 2014, to supply full packages of MacGregor AHTS equipment for two 150 tonne bollard pull AHTS/oil recovery vessels.
