Push Boats: From Turkey to Brazil

The shallow draft market in South America continues to strengthen, powered by orders such as Hidrovias do Brasil S.A. 2013 deal for eight HB Pushboat ASUNCION-PYs, which represents a new generation of powerful Shallow Draft River Push Boat designed specifically for South America inland waterways logistics. Robert Allan Ltd. (RAL) designed and Vienna Model Basin optimized, the total deal for eight push boats is customized for Hidrovias do Brasil S.A., a river iron ore transport subcontractor company for Vale. The boats are designed to meld power with maneuverability in a 69 ton bollard package.

Power and Endurance Ready for Austrailian Waters

Wamalhanha is the final newbuild in a series of six tugs of the Robert Allan Design, RAstar 3200 where her main duties will be terminal activities, escort duties, ship assist, towage duties. She was named on September 24, 2014 at UZMAR Workboat and Tug Factory for delivery. Rio Tinto owns six vessels in this series, these arePilbara Apollo, Kashima, Matsuzaka, Barrura, Gurrgura and Wamalhanha.These vessels have been adapted to requirements for the work in Australian Iron Ore Terminals including power and improved NOx and SOx reduction for the exhaust emissions.

UZMAR’s High-tech Tug Returns from Sea Trials

The innovative, multipurpose, conventional propeller built, 20.4m in length overall, equipped with various machinery and systems that have never designed or build before, Line Handling Tug returns to UZMAR’s Izmit Shipyard Port on April 5, 2014, after the first stage of sea trials. The equipment adjustments, functional check of main systems and propulsion characteristics have confirmed the readiness of the ship. The launching ceremony of the Smart Tug KOC Musaned-2 took place on February 21, 2014. The ship was built by UZMAR Shipyard, also known as “Workboat and Tug Factory “of Turkey.

Engineering Efficiency on the Paraná

Handling Tug Meets the Sea at Uzmar

On February 21, 2014, Uzmar Shipyard, also known as “Workboat and Tug Factory” of Turkey, held a launching ceremony for the KOC MUSANED-2, the second of total 6 line handling tugs being built for Kuwait Oil Company’s tug fleet. These 20 m compact boats are reputed to be the smartest tug of its class by the designer Robert Allan Ltd. The ceremony was held in the presence of Sami Al-Sawagh as the KOC Team Leader, Tariq Usmani as the KOC Marine Maintenance and Technical Service Team Leader Advisor and KOC Project Representatives Shamroz Khan and Anatoly Shepilboth are DNV officials for KOC. Diesel Electric River Push Boats Delivered

RAL designed advanced diesel electric shallow draft river push boat.

On February 21, 2014 UZMAR Shipyard, also known as “Workboat and Tug Factory” of Turkey, announced the delivery of first two most advanced diesel electric shallow draft river push boats to Brazilian Owners, Hidrovias do Brazil S.A. A total of eight ordered push boats will operate in Parana River, South America under a long term iron ore barge transportation contract with VALE. The first two push boats were transported from UZMAR Shipyard, Turkey to Uruguay by semi-submergible heavy cargo vessel in early March 2014.
