MAN Selects Rud to Head PrimeServ Diesel

MAN Diesel & Turbo’s executive board has appointed Per Rud as the new head of PrimeServ Diesel.   Rud will assume his new role on January 1, 2016 and takes over from Wayne Jones, who will join the executive board as the new chief sales officer.   Rud has led PrimeServ Diesel in Copenhagen for the past five years. Before joining MAN Diesel & Turbo in 2010 as vice president and head of the two-stroke Service and After Sales business, Rud has been working with the DISA Group, a provider of foundry technology, for more than a decade. He is a member of the board of directors at Union Engineering in Denmark.

MAN D&T Ready to Support Tier III Maritime Age

New Carnival Cruise Ship to be Powered by MAN Diesel & Turbo

MAN Diesel & Turbo has won an order from Miami-based Carnival Cruise Lines to supply five medium-speed 48/60CR engines to power its next-generation diesel-electric propulsion cruise liner which is to be built by Fincantieri. With a gross tonnage of about 133,500 tons and a passenger capacity of about 5,000, the ship will be the largest vessel in the Carnival Cruise Lines' fleet. Its construction represents the introduction of a brand new class of ship that will be powered by five MAN Tier-II-type engines – 2 × 14V48/60CR + 3 × 8L48/60CR types – capable of delivering 62,400 kW.

Kawasaki Celebrates Century in Power

Japanese licensee marks milestone in diesel engine manufacture Kawasaki Heavy Industry (KHI) has celebrated the 100th anniversary of its engine-manufacturing license with MAN Diesel & Turbo. Spread over four days, the celebrations were capped with a technical event in Kobe featuring over 140 attendees. Dr Stephan Timmermann, member of MAN Diesel & Turbo’s Executive Board, spoke of the special relationship between his company and its longest prevailing licensee. Dr Timmermann pointed to the uniqueness of the cooperation in the world of licensing, due to other such often developing in different directions, or that technology losing relevance.

PrimeServ Las Palmas Opens For Business

PrimeServ Las Palmas held its official opening at the beginning of October 2010 in front of an audience from the Canary Islands, the Spanish mainland, MAN Diesel & Turbo’s power-plant and marine sectors, and which included colleagues from around Europe. PrimeServ Las Palmas has de facto been open for business since the beginning of 2010, and transported guests to its new facilities aboard a catamaran powered by MAN engines to demonstrate how customers can conveniently berth vessels right in front of its premises.
