NOV to Supply STP System

National Oilwell Varco, a provider of equipment and components used in oil and gas drilling and production, announced new contract award for submerged turret production (STP) system.APL, part of NOV's Completion & Production Solutions segment, has been awarded the supply of another large STP system, said a press release from NOV.This follows a recent  contract award from Samsung Heavy Industries Co. Ltd. for Reliance Industries' FPSO on the MJ field.This time, the system will be provided to a joint venture between Shapoorji Palloonji Oil and Gas and Bumi Armada Berhad. Drydocks World Completes FPSO Upgrade, Turret Mooring Project

Drydocks World has recently completed two projects for Bluewater Energy Services B.V. and end client Hurricane Energy plc.The projects included the refurbishment, life extension and upgrade of the FPSO Aoka Mizu vessel, and the construction of a Turret Buoy weighing over 1,000T. In addition to the complex buoy construction project, Drydocks World teams fabricated and installed over 1,000T of structural steel, 1,800 pipe spools (including Duplex), and 55km of cables on the FPSO.The FPSO Aoka Mizu will be deployed on the Lancaster field…

Drydocks World Takes on FPSO Aoka Mizu Projects

Drydocks World, a marine, onshore and offshore service provider to the oil, gas and renewable energy sectors, has signed an agreement for two new projects with Bluewater Energy Services B.V. and end client Hurricane Energy plc. Building on Drydocks World’s track record of 32 conversions and six turrets, the yard will now undertake a repair, life extension and upgrade project on Floating Production Storage & Offloading (FPSO) vessel Aoka Mizu, which will be deployed in the Lancaster Field West of the Shetlands after completion.

SBM Offshore Selects BMT for Stones IMMS

BMT Scientific Marine Services Inc (BMT) has been awarded a contract from SBM Offshore to provide an Integrated Marine Monitoring System (IMMS) for the Stones Floating Production Storage Offshore (FPSO) in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico. The IMMS monitors, logs and displays data in real-time to provide operational support functionality and archives data for assessing the facility’s integrity over time. The Stones IMMS is comprised of a set of subsystems including environmental and facility monitoring, mooring line monitoring, and subsea acoustic monitoring of the disconnectable turret buoy.

OGX, OSX: Countdown for the First Oil

OGX, the Brazilian oil and gas company responsible for the largest private-sector exploratory campaign in Brazil, and OSX, a private Brazilian corporation that provides equipment and services to the offshore oil and natural gas industry via integrated operations in naval construction, chartering of exploration and production units, and operating and maintenance services, announced that they have revised the time-table for the beginning of production to January 2012. During the second half of 2011, OGX has focused on the execution process in preparation for first oil, from obtaining the necessary environmental licenses until the installation of the equipment that will connect the OGX-26HP well to the FPSO OSX-1.

BMT Wins Petrobras Cascade & Chinook Contract

BMT Engineer prepares Free-Standing Hybrid Riser (FSHR) data acquisition modules to go subsea.

BMT Scientific Marine Services (BMT) was contracted by Petrobras America Inc., a subsidiary of Petrobras, to provide support maintenance and repair for the Cascade and Chinook Free Standing Hybrid Riser Tower (FSHR) Monitoring System. This agreement includes five years of operation to support maintenance and repair of the FSHR monitoring system, including equipment replacement, change-out of batteries, repair of equipment, preventative maintenance, equipment refurbishment, freight and transport. The monitoring system was originally supplied by BMT with subsea installation completed in 2010.

First FPSO Approved for Gulf of Mexico

The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, Regulation and Enforcement (BOEMRE) today provided the final approval necessary for Petrobras America, Inc. to begin oil and natural gas production at its Chinook-Cascade project using a Floating Production Storage Offloading (FPSO) facility. This will be the first time this technology is used in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico. BOEMRE approved the project’s Production Safety System permit and Supplemental Deepwater Operating Plan (DWOP), to ensure that stringent safety regulations were met.
