Cobham Comms for Six Newbuild CBO OSVs

Companhia Brasileira de Offshore (CBO) has chosen Cobham SATCOM VSAT and Satellite TV (TVRO) antennas in addition to radio communication equipment for installation on six new Offshore Support Vessels (OSV). CBO’s state-of-the-art new OSVs have been commissioned to fulfil development contracts offshore Brazil and will be entering service during 2017 and 2018. The Cobham SATCOM equipment has been installed and is already supporting operations on the first of the new OSVs, with installation aboard the second vessel scheduled this month.

Cobham, SpeedCast Partner to Grow Maritime Broadband

Cobham SATCOM and SpeedCast International Limited have concluded a global framework agreement covering the provision of maritime stabilized antennas, which offers high speed connectivity at sea. The commercial framework was awarded following a multi-vendor selection process by SpeedCast, based on a technical, commercial and supply chain evaluation criteria and will run three years. Intellian to Debut New Satellite TV Antenna

The latest product to join Intellian’s i-Series antenna range, the i5P, will be unveiled at the METSTRADE exhibition November 17-19 in Amsterdam. Intellian, a producer of maritime satellite communication antenna technology, will display the newest addition to its TVRO portfolio during this year’s METSTRADE show. The all-new i5P creates a new size category of marine satellite TV systems. The system allows inland and coastal craft across Europe as well as vessels in the Mediterranean cruise sector to travel further and experience higher performance with a smaller antenna, according to the manufacturer. The Intellian i5P includes an automatic skew function and is optimized for the Astra Satellite combining simultaneous reception for both the ASTRA I and II.

Intellian Launches New VSAT Control Software

Intellian launched Aptus, a new graphical interface based PC software for monitoring and control of Intellian VSAT antennas which it says simplifies use and provides antenna operational data. The Aptus PC software is compatible with all Intellian VSAT antennas and can also be used on the 3-Axis TVRO systems. MTN Satellite Communications (MTN) announce MTN Worldwide TV is now available to commercial shipping, ferry, oil & gas and yacht customers. Omniaccess Delivers a High-Speed 24MBPS VSAT Network

Imtech Marine Inks VSAT and TVRO Contracts

Imtech Marine has recently signed Global Distribution and Service agreements for satellite communication (VSAT) and satellite TV (TVRO) products with three prominent manufacturers. Via its company Radio Holland, Imtech Marine already had (long) relationships with Intellian, Jotron and Thrane & Thrane, which are now extended for VSAT and TVRO. All Imtech Marine branches (80 around the world)  will supply, install, commission and service the  systems and arrange airtime. The agreements are in line with Imtech Marine’s multicard strategy, focussed on quality solutions. As a full service provider and system integrator Imtech Marine’strategy is focussed on life cycle management partnership and on increasing the value of the ship’s operations.

Ship Equip's Shanghai Office Receives First Contract

The opening of the Ship Equip Shanghai Office in 2010 has proved successful with the first contract signed on May 10th with Ningbo HaiZhiXing Ocean Fishery. The contract was signed during a new Technology & Product Conference held in Shanghai by Ship Equip and partner company Beijing Highlander. Ningbo HaiZhiXing Ocean Fishery Co,. Ltd.,  is a Ministry of Agriculture qualified, large-scale offshore fishing enterprise, which owns 16 professional offshore squid fishing vessels with 6 more currently under construction.

New Antennas from Sea Tel

Sea Tel has released the first USAT (Ultra Small Aperture Terminal) antenna. Sea Tel announced a smaller, lighter 60 cm antenna system, the first 60 cm marine antenna to meet FCC’s and ETSI’s specification allowing multi mode use with Spread Spectrum, TDMA and SCPC services. The USAT 24 is aimed at Coastal trading vessels and inland craft. Services are currently being Beta trialed with a number of modem providers including Hughes, Viasat, iDirect, and STM on a number of satellite operator’s footprints world-wide. Service in Europe and the US is expected to start in the 4th Quarter of 2008.
