Proposals for Design of New Bridge Received by PCA

The Panama Canal Authority (ACP) received six proposals from around the world for the design of the first-ever bridge on the Atlantic side of the waterway, at a public event held Tuesday in Panama. Currently, the Bridge of the Americas and the Centennial Bridge, on the Pacific side, provide the only routes for vehicles to cross the Canal. This new bridge will be the third across the Canal and the first located near the Gatún Locks, spanning the west and east sides of the city of Colon.

Landmark Bridge Opens in Singapore

Singaporeā€™s new landmark bridge at the southern waterfront, Keppel Bay Bridge, was named and opened by His Excellency S R Nathan, President of Singapore. Keppel Bay Bridge was opened by the President in a grand light-up ceremony involving spectacular pyrotechnics across its 250-m span, witnessed by more than 300 guests gathered at the waterfront promenade at the Reflections at Keppel Bay show gallery. ā€œThis new landmark bridge forms part of the masterplan and infrastructure to transform Keppel Bay into a premier waterfront precinct that integrates exclusive waterfront residencesā€¦

West Joins PCCI

PCCI, Inc. announced that Todd West joined the professional staff in its Alexandria, VA office as a Project Engineer. Mr. West will be working with Ocean Facilities engineering, Dry Dock engineering and Salvage engineering. Previously, Mr. West held the position of Engineer at T.Y. Lin International, where he worked on bridge design. He received a Masters of Civil Engineering, with a concentration in structures, from the University of Delaware. His graduate research focused on applications of advanced composite materials for bridge rehabilitation. He also possesses a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the Florida Institute of Technology.
