BBC Chartering Appoints Ulrichs as CEO

Intermarine Enters Joint Venture with Zeaborn Group

Maritime Holdings Delaware, LLC, parent company of project, breakbulk and heavylift cargo carrier Intermarine, LLC has entered into a joint venture agreement with Zeaborn Group.The joint venture entity, ZeaMarine GmbH, will include the transfer of assets and operating entities from Zeaborn´s commercial activities as well as Zeaborn-owned Rickmers Line GmbH and Maritime Holdings-owned Intermarine, LLC.The shareholders of the newly-formed ZEAMARINE will also commit to fund new capital to grow the joint venture. Zeaborn Group will serve as the majority shareholder.

ZEABORN Buys Five Heavy-lift Cargo Ships

On July 31, 2017, the ZEABORN Group signed the contracts for the purchase of five 30,000dwt Superflex Heavy Lift vessels, all of which are sister ships of the previously acquired Rickmers Hamburg, and are employed in the Rickmers-Line liner service acquired by ZEABORN in April. The parties involved have agreed not to disclose the purchase price. While the title to the vessels will pass to ZEABORN by the end of September, they are already available to the shipping company without any restrictions.

Marking further consolidation in the breakbulk and project cargo sector, Rickmers Group said it has sold its business operations of Rickmers-Linie to ZEABORN. Rickmers-Linie GmbH & Cie. KG and MCC Marine Consulting & Contracting GmbH & Cie. KG, which are both fully-owned by Rickmers Holding AG, reached agreement to sell their respective operating businesses to ZEABORN Chartering GmbH & Co. KG on February 7, 2017. Rickmers Acquires Nordana Project

Rickmers-Linie, the Hamburg based liner service specialist for breakbulk, heavy lift and project cargoes takes over the activities of tramp and chartering specialist Nordana Project & Chartering with offices in Copenhagen, Bangkok, Singapore and Houston. The business will continue under the name and brand “NPC” and become an independent division supplementing the Rickmers-Linie segment within the Rickmers Group effective 1 July 2016. In the new arrangement NPC will operate a multipurpose heavy lift fleet worldwide in the size range between 8,000 and 21,000 dwt with a lifting capacity of up to 500 tonnes. The core fleet will be made up of Nordana’s 12,000 dwt heavy lift vessels and will include Thai flag vessels.

Bahri, Rickmers-Linie Ink Charter Deal

Rickmers-Linie, the Hamburg based specialist for project and heavy lift liner services and the National Shipping Company of Saudi Arabia (trading as Bahri Liner) have recently signed a space charter agreement. The agreement covers the ports on the US Atlantic and Gulf Coasts as well as ports in Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait, the UAE, Iraq and the Yemen. It enables the chartering of space from Rickmers-Linie to Bahri Liner and vice versa on vessels operated by the other and authorizes Rickmers-Linie and Bahri Liner to coordinate arrangements with regard to that space in the aforementioned trades. Rickmers-Linie Completes Recertification

Rickmers-Linie, the Hamburg-based specialist in worldwide liner services for heavy lifts and project cargoes, has successfully completed audits by DNV GL which took place between 3 and 5 November. As a consequence the company, which belongs to Rickmers Group, received new certificates for its integrated management system which covers the three segments of quality (ISO 9001: 2008), Environment (ISO 14001: 2004) and Occupational Safety and Health at Work (OHSAS 18001: 2007). The new certificates are again valid for a period of three years. Rickmers-Linie has already been certified for many years according to ISO 9001 standards. The standard for occupational health and safety according to OHSAS 18001, and the management system for the environment according to ISO 14001 were added in 2010.

Rickmers-Linie Supports Low Sulphur Regime, Expects Cost Hike

Rickmers-Linie has declared its support for the introduction of stricter sulphur regulations but expects that it will inevitably lead to an increase in the cost of marine fuels. “While shipping is already the most environmentally friendly mode of transport, the new regulations help to further reduce the impact on the environment and our health,” said Ulrich Ulrichs, Chief Executive Officer of Rickmers-Linie. The new regulations come into effect on January 1, 2015 in the Emission Control Areas (ECA) in the U.S. and Canada as well as the North Sea, English Channel and the Baltic Sea.

One of the multi-purpose ships operating on Rickmers’ service between Europe and the Middle East/India has been christened Rickmers Chennai. The former Pacific Winter was renamed in a ceremony in Hamburg yesterday, by Dr Christine Winter, daughter of owner Heino Winter, acting as sponsor of the vessel. The 19,100-dwt Rickmers Chennai has been on long-term charter from Reederei Heino Winter since April. Rickmers-Linie to Charter Additional Heavy Lift MPV

Rickmers-Linie will charter into its fleet the 19,100dwt Pacific Winter, a sister ship of Baltic Winter, originally chartered in by Rickmers in December 2011. Rickmers will also extend the existing charter on Baltic Winter. With her 800-ton lift capacity, the 2011-built Baltic Winter has been a successful addition to the Rickmers-Linie fleet, the company said, and both she and her 2012-built sister will now be given Rickmers names. They will also feature the Rickmers-Linie logo on their hulls and Rickmers funnel colours.

Rickmers-Linie Establishes Westbound Round-The-World Service

Rickmers-Linie is launching a Westbound Round-The-World Service, connecting areas of economic growth in Asia and South America and then on to North America. The America-Asia westbound service established in 2006 now forms a part of this new service. The Hamburg-based specialist in the worldwide ocean transportation of breakbulk, heavy lifts and project cargoes announced the decision on the first day of the Breakbulk China 2013 event in Shanghai. Rickmers-Linie Successfully Recertified

Rickmers-Linie GmbH & Cie KG, Hamburg, which specializes in worldwide ocean transportation of break bulk, heavy lifts and project cargoes has successfully undergone the process of recertification according to the latest ISO Standards ISO 9001:2008, ISO 14001:2009 and OHSAS 18001:2007. The certificates for the integrated quality management system, which encompasses the three segments Quality, Occupational Health and Safety as well as the Environment, are again valid for three years, until 29 November 2015. Rickmers-Linie is still one of the few companies in the breakbulk, heavy lift and projects sector that has adopted an integrated management system according to the three aforementioned certification standards.

Rickmers-Linie is to take delivery of two 20,000dwt multi-purpose/heavy-lift newbuildings in 2015, to be built at Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding in China. Both of these multi-purpose vessels will be equipped with two 450-tonne cranes and one 120-tonne crane. The two main cranes will enable them to load up to 900 tonnes in a single lift. Construction supervision and technical management will be the responsibility of Rickmers Shipmanagement while asset and commercial management will be undertaken by Rickmers Reederei. Ulrich Ulrichs is Appointed Managing Director of Rickmers-Linie

Rickmers-Linie, part of Hamburg’s Rickmers Group, has promoted Ulrich Ulrichs to the position of Managing Director. Mr Ulrichs joined Rickmers-Linie in 2005 when he took over responsibility for Line Management. In 2008 he became Director of this division before being appointed Deputy Managing Director in August 2011. Mr Ulrichs will work alongside Rüdiger Gerhardt, who has held the title of Managing Director since 1 July 2011 as well as Head of Logistics Services for the Rickmers Group.

Rickmers Linie extends its executive board

Rickmers-Linie, part of Hamburg’s Rickmers Group, has extended its executive board. Rüdiger Gerhardt has been appointed Managing Director and Ulrich Ulrichs becomes Deputy Managing Director. Mr Gerhardt has been working for Rickmers since 1978. Previous to his new position, he was Director for Human Resources, Administration and Finance. His new role will also include leading the business division “Logistics Services“ at Rickmers Group. Mr Ulrichs has been in charge of Line Management since 2005 and has been Director of this division since 2008.
