SunStone's Greg Mortimer Launched in China

The launching ceremony of the ‘Greg Mortimer’, the first polar expedition cruise vessel in SunStone Ships’ INFINITY series, was held in the morning of 12 March at the CMHI yard, China.The steel cutting ceremony of ship number three in the series was also arranged yesterday, said a press release from Ulstein Group ASA, Norway based ship designer.The cruise operator, Aurora Expeditions, has chartered the vessel, and named her after their founder, Greg Mortimer, who also attended yesterday’s launch ceremony.According to Xianpu Hu, managing director at China Merchants Industry Group, the construction of vessel number 1 started on 16 March 2018, less than one year ago.

Aeolus Energy Pact with Ulstein for Jones Act SOV

Florida based Aeolus Energy awarded Ulstein the design contract to develop the first ever Jones Act compliant offshore wind Service Operations Vessel (SOV), said a press release from Norway-based Ulstein Group ASA.The contract marks Ulstein’s entry into the U.S. offshore wind market and serves as Aeolus’ initial investment toward a fleet of vessels including cable ships, crew transfer vessels and hotel ships, all to be constructed by U.S. shipyards.The vessel will be a customized version of Ulstein’s SX195 design developed to meet the specific requirements of Aeolus Energy and U.S. Coast Guard. The project starts with customizing the SX195 design, to optimize the new walk-to-work vessel for operations in U.S.

Kristensen to Head Ulstein Design and Solutions

Eva Kristensen will take the helm as the new managing director at Ulstein Design and Solutions AS starting in January 2016. Kristensen will also enter into the role as COO for the Design & Solutions business area, and be one of the executives in the group management of Ulstein Group ASA. Kristensen joins Ulstein from GE Oil & Gas Nordics, where she was managing director for five years. Prior to this, she was managing director for two companies in the Aker system. Kristensen holds an MSc from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), Instritute of Naval Architecture and Marine Technology.

New Finance Manager at Ulstein Verft

Sindre Rotevatn (51) has been appointed finance manager and deputy managing director of Ulstein Verft AS. He will take up the position in November. “I am looking forward to joining ULSTEIN and to my new role as finance manager and deputy managing director of Ulstein Verft,” says Sindre Rotevatn. He comes from the position as Senior Vice President Business Process Improvement in Saferoad Group, where he previously held the position as CFO. Rotevatn also has several years of experience as finance manager in Ørsta-gruppen, Ørsta Stål and Møremøbler, in addition to experience from banking. Rotevatn also succeeds Sigurd Viseth as deputy managing director of Ulstein Verft.
