The crude oil tanker company Euronav has purchased a total of 420,000 metric tons of compliant fuel oil and marine gasoil so far, the company revealed as it detailed its IMO 2020 sulfur cap plans. In aggregate the purchase value of very low sulfur fuel oil (VLSFO) has been at $447 per metric ton compared to a bunker price (HFO-3.5% Sulfur content) of $400 per metric ton over the same procurement period.According to the Belgium shipping company, the oil is currently aboard a ultra large crude carrier (ULCC) Oceania, a vessel built in 2003, and will soon be on its way to Singapore. Euronav owns the only two operational ULCC vessels (3m barrel capacity): the Europe (2002 – 442,470 dwt) and the Oceania.

Euronav has chartered a tanker to bring a 30,000 tonne cargo of low-sulphur fuel oil from northwest Europe to Malta, where its megatanker, Oceania, has been parked offshore since Jan.

The provider of floating production services to the oil and gas industry BW Offshore has signed an agreement to dispose of the FSO Belokamenka for recycling in compliance with the Hong Kong Convention.The Oslo-listed company said in a press release that the FSO Belokamenka  is an Ultra Large Crude Carrier (ULCC) of 360,700 deadweight-ton capacity built in Japan in 1980.The vessel is 340.5 meters long, 65 meters wide and has a depth of 31.5 meters. It is flagged and registered in Panama and classed by DNVGL, and has been in lay-up off Indonesia since completing a contract as a crude oil terminal off Murmansk, Russia, in late 2015. The vessel is sold for a cash consideration of approximately USD 20 million.To date the recycling yard has not been chosen.

OMI Corporation of Stamford, Connecticut announced that it had agreed to sell the SETTEBELLO, its 1986 built single hull ultra large crude carrier to an affiliate of Petrobras S.A. for use in an offshore project. The Company will recognize a gain of approximately $3.2 million at the time it delivers the vessel, expected to be during the fourth quarter of 2004. The sale leaves the Company with all double hull vessels except for one single hull product carrier and two double sided handysize crude oil carriers.

Sembawang Shipyard won $53.5 million contract from Bergesen Worldwide Offshore to convert the Ultra Large Crude Carrier, BW Enterprise to an FPSO (Floating, Production, Storage & Offloading). Bergesen Worldwide Offshore will own and operate the FPSO in the Gulf of Mexico under a 15-year term agreement with Pemex.
