Wallem, Zeaborn Choose Verifavia Shipping for EU MRV Monitoring

Wallem Ship Management in Hong Kong and Zeaborn Ship Management in Hamburg have chosen  Verifavia Shipping for European Union (EU) Reporting and Verification (MRV) and the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Data Collection System (DCS), as well as certification of associated IT systems.The emissions verification company for the transport sector said in a press release that trough their agreement with Zeaborn Ship Management, Verifavia Shipping will provide EUV verification services as well as the status of their flag.It will also be certified by Zeaborn Ship Management for these regulations. For Wallem, Verifavia will also provide verification services for EU MRV and IMO DCS across a number of its Liberia and Panama flagged vessels, and Vertex SMMS.

PISR, VERIFAVIA Enter Verification Service Agreement

Verifavia, an environmental verification, certification and auditing body for aviation and maritime transport and will work with Palau International Ship Registry (PISR) to provide IMO Data Collection System (DCS) verification services to Palau-flagged vessels. The DCS reporting process uses the method of reporting of fuel oil consumption. Verifavia will provide PISR vessels with a complete reviewed Data Collection Plan (DCP). They will be built-into the SEEMP Part II by December 31, 2018, allowing PISR to issue a Confirmation of Compliance to its fleet by May 31, 2020.

Panama Maritime Authority Authorises Verifavia

Verifavia to Provide IMO DCS Services for Liberian-flagged Ships

Emissions verification company for the transport sector Verifavia said it has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the Liberian Registry to conduct IMO DCS and EU MRV verification services for Liberian-flagged vessels. The Liberian Registry – the second largest in the world – includes more than 4,200 vessels aggregating 150+ million gross metric tons, representing 12 percent of the world’s ocean going fleet. As part of the cooperation – the company’s first major step as an IMO DCS (data collection system) verifier –  Verifavia Shipping will leverage its existing knowledge and expertise as an independent EU Monitoring, Reporting and Verification (MRV) dual-accredited verifier to deliver streamlined and efficient verification services to Liberian-registered vessels.

EU MRV - First verification companies accredited by UKAS

The United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) has announced which companies will be able to provide verification services to shipowners as part of EU MRV Regulation 757/2015. The EU Monitoring, Reporting and Verification regulation, which came into force in 2015, requires ships above 5000gt to monitor and report their carbon emissions for all voyages to and from EU member states. Shipping companies operating in EU waters are required to submit data on their emissions The accredited bodies, announced this week, will verify data provided by companies operating in EU waters as from January 1 2018. According to UKAS further applicant certification bodies are in the process of achieving accreditation and will be announced soon.

Tundra MDS Earns ISO 28007-1:2015 Accreditation

Tundra Maritime Defense Services (MDS), the maritime division of Tundra Group, announced that it has been awarded full certification and accreditation for the recently issued ISO 28007-1:2015 (Guidelines for Private Maritime Security Companies), following an audit conducted by Lloyd’s Register Quality Assurance (LRQA). ISO 28007-1:2015 gives established guidelines to private maritime security companies (PMSC) that supply privately contracted armed security personnel (PCASP) on board ships and the compliance requirements are much more stringent than those required by the ‘old’ ISO/PAS 28007.

Marshall Islands Adopts New Standards for PMSCs

The Marshall Islands, the world’s third largest registry with a fleet of more than 3,640 ships, is the first flag to implement the new rules following revised interim recommendations published in June’s Maritime Safety Committee circular MSC.1/Circ.1406/Rev. At its 95th session, the MSC stated that flag states should ensure that PMSCs onboard ships hold a valid ISO 28007-1:2015 certification. ESC Global Security, an Estonia-based maritime security provider, has been audited according to the new standard. The main difference between the new standard and the existing ISO PAS 28007:2012 version is that it includes a clause to ensure PMSCs have measures and procedures in place that are compliant with international law on human rights.

Tundra MDS Now ISO/PAS 28007 Accredited

Tundra Maritime Defense Services (MDS), the maritime division of Tundra Group, announce that it has now been formally awarded full certification and accreditation for ISO 28000 including ISO/PAS 28007:2012 (Guidelines for Private Maritime Security Companies), following Lloyd’s Register Quality Assurance (LRQA) being appointed as a ‘Certifying Body’ (CB) against ISO/PAS 28007 by the UK Accreditation Service (UKAS).
