Jessup Appointed Sr.VP in Kalmar

Craig Jessup has been appointed Senior Vice President, Services in Kalmar, part of Cargotec. Craig joins Kalmar from Ingersoll Rand where he headed the Industrial Technologies parts and services business for Europe, Middle East, Africa and India. Before Ingersoll Rand, Craig worked 21 years at ABB where he held a variety of leadership positions in the service business and was in charge of the global Services business of ABB's Robotics division as VP Customer Service as well as the Worldwide Head of Service Technology. Craig, who has both US and French citizenships, has lived and worked in several countries, including the USA, Canada, France, the UK, Belgium and the Netherlands.

McDonald Promoted to EVP at Ingram Industries Inc.

Ingram Industries Inc. announced the promotion of Vice President and Deputy General Counsel Eleanor McDonald to Executive Vice President and General Counsel and Secretary, effective July 1. Orrin H. Ingram, President and Chief Executive Officer, commended Ms. She joined Ingram in 2006 as Assistant General Counsel, and before that was in private law practice in Nashville concentrating in mergers and acquisitions, commercial finance transactions and general corporate matters. Ms. McDonald received her juris doctor degree from Vanderbilt University Law School and earned her bachelor of arts degree in political science from the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. Nixon Named Director of R.I. Sea Grant

Earlier this month, Dennis Nixon was named director of the Rhode Island Sea Grant, one of 32 programs that make up the National Sea Grant College Program, which is administered by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. Nixon spends much of his life near the ocean. As a longtime Jamestown resident, Nixon is never more than minutes away from Narragansett Bay. As associate dean of the University of Rhode Island’s Graduate School of Oceanography, he is just as close to the waves when he’s in his office. Nixon has been teaching at the University of Rhode Island for 37 years.

Jeremy Barnes Appointed GE Marine’s Commercial Marine Marketing Director. GE Marine announces it has appointed Jeremy Barnes as the Commercial Marine Marketing Director. In this role, Barnes is responsible for global commercial market development activities for GE’s full line of LM marine aeroderivative gas turbines, including industry analysis, strategic planning, customer education, and channel development. He is based at GE Marine’s Evendale, Ohio, headquarters. Barnes has gained valuable commercial experience through varied sales and marketing roles across multiple GE businesses.

NACE Int’l Names Chalker Executive Director

NACE International, the Corrosion Society, today named Robert (Bob) H. Chalker as its new Executive Director. Chalker has served as Managing Director & CEO of ASQ Global, a wholly owned subsidiary of the American Society for Quality, for the past year and half. He is a dynamic leader with a vast background in strategic planning and global development. Prior to being named Managing Director at ASQ Global in 2009, Chalker served as Director, Global Development and Strategic Planning at SAE International for five years where he was responsible for the Society’s $57m in revenues, and setting the sales and marketing direction for the global, 115,000 member organization.

Horizon Lines’ New Class III Director

The Board of Directors of Horizon Lines, Inc. (NYSE:HRZ) appointed Bobby J. Griffin to fill an existing vacancy as a Class III Director of the Company effective June 9, 2010. Griffin served as President, International Operations of Ryder System, Inc., a global provider of transportation, logistics and supply chain management solutions from March 2005 to March 2007. Between 1986 and 2005, Griffin served in various other management positions with Ryder System, including Executive Vice President, Global Supply Chain Operations and President of ATE Management and Services Company, acquired by Ryder in 1986. Volpenhein Samson’s Asia Technical Sales Manager

Samson, cordage specialist, announced the promotion of Kris Volpenhein to Asia Technical Sales Manager. Effective September 1, 2010 Volpenhein will provide focused technical and sales efforts to support Samson’s offshore and commercial marine markets throughout Asia. Volpenhein has been part of the Samson research and development department for the last four years as both an application engineer and technical manager. Volpenhein has a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Cincinnati.

Neptune Orient Lines Limited (NOL) announced the appointment of international business figure Robert J. Herbold to the company’s Board of Directors, effective 1 February 2010. From 1994 to 2001, Herbold was Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Microsoft Corporation. After retiring in 2001, Mr Herbold worked half-time for Microsoft until 2003 as Executive Vice President assisting in government, industry, and customer issues. Prior to joining Microsoft, Herbold spent 26 years at The Procter & Gamble Company (P&G). In his last five years with P&G he served as its Senior Vice President of Marketing. Currently, Herbold is the Managing Director of Herbold Group, LLC, a consulting business focused on profitability.

Advanced Remote Communication Solutions (ARCOMS) has promoted Charles J. Drobny, Jr. to COO for its business unit, Boatracs. Drobny, who has served as vice president of Application Development for Boatracs Gulfport since November 1997, brings a vast amount of senior level management experience along with knowledge in the development of various critical software integration solutions for the marine industry. Yeager Receives Honorary Doctorate

Hub Group founder and Chairman Phillip C. Yeager was made a Doctor of Public Service after receiving an honorary doctorate from the Intermodal Transportation Institute (ITI) at the University of Denver, Colorado earlier this month. ITI recognized Yeager as a leader in the freight transportation industry and for his role in creating and building Hub Group, Inc. “This is a great honor,” Yeager said upon accepting his doctorate. HUB Group supports the higher education offered at ITI by sending eligible professionals from the company to the University of Denver campus to complete the ITI Executive Master’s Program, the only graduate program of its kind in intermodal transportation. Yeager founded Hub Group in 1971, and presided over the company’s growth in North America’s intermodal markets.
