Vittoria Shipyard Partners with Peru

Vittoria Shipyard has extended its horizons to the South American market; the Adria-based firm – an Italian builder of military, paramilitary, commercial, transport and working ships – has signed an agreement to work with SIMA Perú, a publicly-owned company that plans, builds and maintains ships, including the naval vessels belonging to the Marina de Guerra (Peruvian Navy), in close agreement with the Peruvian Ministry of Defense. The agreement is for the analysis and execution of future projects to build highly-technological naval vessels which meet the country's special geographical needs.

We deeply and sadly regret to advise the passing of George G. Sharp’s Chairman of the Board Dr. Ilario Hilary Rolih on February 16, 2014. Dr. Ilario Hilary Rolih passed away at the age of 82 on February 16, 2014 while on vacation in Cancun, Mexico. Dr. Rolih had more than 58 years’ experience in the marine industry. He was the chairman of the Board at George G. Sharp, Inc. since 1983. He had a Doctor of Naval and Mechanical Engineering Degree from the University of Trieste in 1956…

Wärtsilä Hosts Student Training Ship from SUNY Maritime

Wärtsilä hosted the State University of New York, Maritime College and its Cadets on board the College’s training ship, the Empire State VI during their mid-July visit to Trieste, Italy. The students were part of the second term of the annual 2013 Summer Sea Team. The ship’s visit to the historic city was no ordinary port call. Upon arrival of the ship in Trieste’s harbor, leaders from Wärtsilä  welcomed the group of close to 600, including Maritime Cadets, a contingent of Cadets from Maine and Texas Maritime Academies, faculty, crew and SUNY Maritime College President, RADM Wendi B.
