Uniwise Offshore Boosts OSV Fleet Cyber-Security with Inmarsat's Fleet Secure UTM

Uniwise Offshore, a Thailand-based offshore support vessel (OSV) company, has boosted cyber-security standards across its OSV fleet by adopting technology from Inmarsat, a mobile satellite communications specialist."With reliable connectivity delivered by Inmarsat’s Fleet Xpress, Fleet Secure Unified Threat Management (UTM) provides Uniwise with end-to-end functionality to protect its network from cyber-attacks and intrusion via infected devices," Inmarsat said."In the busy Gulf of Thailand, where a majority of Uniwise’s OSVs operate, connectivity is a key requirement.

MEO Group Wins Contract to Supply Five Anchor Handling Tug Supply Vessels

MEO Group and its local joint venture partner, Uniwise Offshore Ltd, won a three-year contract for five Anchor Handling Tug Supply vessels (AHTS) by an E&P company in Thailand. The five vessels -- MEO Monarch 1, MEO Monarch 2, Uniwise Advantage, Uniwise Adventure, and Miclyn Emperor -- will support the oil & gas company's exploration or production programs starting Q1 2022.Photo courtesy MEO Group

Uniwise Offshore Selects New High-speed Broadband Service

Offshore support vessel (OSV) operator Uniwise Offshore Limited has chosen a new high-speed broadband service to enhance the operations of its entire fleet of more than 30 vesselsUniwise Offshore will use Thaicom’s Nava enabled high-speed connectivity and solutions to focus on operational improvements, including optimized electronic document handling, as well as ship-to-ship and ship-to-shore communications for safer and more cost-effective operations. The company will also be able to improve its onboard communication services including crew welfare and fleet management.

Uniwise Buys NAUTIS Simulator for OSV Training

For training of Offshore Supply Vessel (OSV) activities within their fleet, Uniwise Offshore Thailand purchased a NAUTIS Offshore Supply Vessel Simulator and Instructor Station. The simulator was delivered and installed by VSTEP at the Uniwise Offshore training center in Songkhla. Uniwise Offshore owns and operates the largest crew boat fleet in the Gulf of Thailand, supporting the Kingdom’s offshore oil and gas activities. The Songkhla training center plays a key part in the company strategy to develop, train and retain competent Thai crew. The Songkhla base houses the main technical center of excellence, with an engine maintenance facility essential for high crew boat up-time, a large warehouse for critical spares and mentioned training center, through which all crews must pass.

Gulf of Thailand PSV Charter Fixed

Miclyn Express Offshore's Thai J/V has taken delivery of the PSV 'UM Supporter' from Poet Shipbuilding & Engineering. The vessel immediately entered into a 3 year firm contract, plus two 1 year extension options, to provide coil tubing support services to a major oil and gas company’s activities in the Gulf of Thailand. This new contract is a continuation of a long standing relationship with between the two companies in this region. The fully SPS 2008-compliant vessel has total accommodation for 50 people and 500m2 of clear deck area space. Combined with a service speed of 12kts with twin 1946kW main engines, it is also fitted with two 9 tonne bow thrusters and a telescopic boom crane.

Thai Offshore Supplier Gets Chevron Contract

The 3 year firm contract with plus 2 x 1 year extension options is to provide coil tubing marine support services to Chevron`s production activities in the Gulf of Thailand. Uniwise Offshore will purchase a Platform Supply Vessel currently under construction in a Chinese Shipyard, to fulfil the service requirements. The vessel will commence operation in October 2012. The new contract is a continuation of a long standing relationship with Chevron in the region. CEO Diederik de Boer said, “This new vessel represents our sixth Offshore Service Vessel servicing Chevron in the Gulf of Thailand. We have been able to leverage off our strong operating track record in Crew/Utility Vessels to further increase our exposure to Chevron’s OSV operations.

Thailand’s Marsun Shipbuilder Grows Their Crewboat

Thailand’s Marsun Co. Ltd. has built a number of in-house designed 118-ft crewboats. Earlier this year they launched a 131-ft version. Delivered in February the Uniexpress 18 went into service in the Gulf of Thailand for owner Uniwise Offshore Ltd. transporting up to 70 workers to and from oil rigs. In addition to personel, the boat can carry up to 50 tons of cargo on the 120 square-meter after deck. Tankage is provided for 50,000 liters of fuel and 20,000 liters of water. Propulsion for the 131-ft crewboat is the same as that for Marsun’s 118-ft model.

Thai Boats for Thai Waters

Marsun Company Limited has built a strong reputation in the building of GRP, steel and aluminum military, patrol and pleasure vessels. In 2004 they built a successful crewboat. More recently they have won a significant contract to build six 36 by 7.6-meter crewboats for operation in the Gulf of Thailand. By mid-January fabrication of the first two vessels was well underway for a scheduled September 2008 delivery. The balance of the order will follow in sets of two every three months. Built to an evolved design from their own naval architects, the boats will have seating for 92 passengers and full accommodation for ten although the crew size will be eight. Main propulsion will be three Cummins KTA38 M2 each generating 1350 HP at 1950 RPM.
