OPEC Fund Partners with IRENA

The OPEC Fund for International Development has signed an agreement with the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) to join the Energy Transition Accelerator Financing (ETAF) platform.The platform is a global initiative that seeks to mobilise funds for renewable energy investments. The OPEC Fund plans to support the platform with up to USD 250 million financing until 2030 to finance renewable energy solutions in its partner countries.The ETAF platform, established by IRENA and backed by the United Arab Emirates, initially aimed to mobilise at least USD one billion of capital by 2030.

Putin to Discuss Black Sea Grain Deal with Turkey's Erdogan

IRISL launches Direct Container Service from Incheon to M.E.

THE Incheon Port Authority said a regular container service connecting the port directly to the Middle East has been launched for the first time, backed by the Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Lines (IRISL). According to MANA,The Iranian state-run IRISL will deploy its 5,100-teu vessel Touska in the Middle Eastern route, named HDM Loop, it said in a statement. Two containerships of 5,100 teu capacity each will be put in operation, along with four 6,500 teu container carriers. No other details on the six vessels were provided. The seven vessels will enter Incheon New Port at fortnightly intervals, the IPA said. Incheon New Port was partly opened in June last year.

CEO Will Not Return: Fredriksen

Norwegian-born billionaire John Fredriksen said Jo Lunder, who has been on leave as chief executive of his Fredriksen Group since November, would not come back, business paper Dagens Naeringsliv wrote on Friday. Fredriksen Group controls rig firm Seadrill, fish farmer Marine Harvest, tanker company Frontline, dry bulker Golden Ocean and property company Norwegian Property, among others. China, Russia Plan Naval War Exercise

China says it will join Russia in naval war games starting next month in the Sea of Japan and the Yellow Sea. The official Xinhua News Agency quoted Defense Ministry spokesman Yang Yujun as saying that the exercise will begin in late April and run into May. The specific locations were not disclosed. Yang says the joint exercise is aimed at improving cooperation and ensuring stability in the Asia-Pacific region. China and Russia have conducted several joint military exercises since 2005 within the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. The group also includes the Central Asian countries of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan and aims to promote regional cooperation and check U.S. influence.

GAC Russia Expands Portfolio

GAC has marked ten years in Russia with an announcement of plans to develop enhanced marine services to support offshore energy projects in Russian waters. The company opened its first office in the key Black Sea port of Novorossiysk in 2001 to attend to tankers at the newly opened CPC-R terminal, later extending its ship agency services to Sheskharis oil terminal and the dry cargo port of Novorossiysk. Offices in Moscow, St Petersburg, Murmansk and Taman followed. Today, the company employs 35 personnel and has attended to more than 2000 port calls.

Lukoil, CNPC to Collaborate

Cameroon Still Seen As Most Corrupt Nation

West Africa's Cameroon retained the dubious honor of being viewed as the country most likely to take bribes in 1999 while Denmark remained squeaky clean, according to an independent report. Corruption watchdog Transparency International's 1999 report also showed that companies from China, which is seeking to join the World Trade Organization, were viewed as the most likely to pay bribes in order to win business overseas. The latest Corruption Perceptions Index showed that of the 99 countries tracked, only Denmark received a perfect 10 rating for the second year running, showing that investors, risk analysts and the public think the country and its public officials are clean.
