In the 45 years since the Arab Shipbuilding & Repair Yard (ASRY) opened on reclaimed land in Bahrain, the Middle East has become one of the world’s ship repair hotspots. A broad range of shipyards now service both regional and global markets.Regional yards have a ready market, with hundreds of offshore rigs working across the region together with the service ships that support them. Then there are thousands of tankers and gas carriers that arrive each year to load energy cargoes for far-flung destinations.

DOF Subsea to Help VAALCO with FPSO/FSO Swap Offshore Gabon

Oil and gas company VAALCO Energy has hired DOF Subsea to perform subsea construction and installation services offshore Gabon, where the company operates the Etame field.The contract is for the support of the subsea reconfiguration associated with the replacement of the existing Floating Production, Storage and Offloading unit (“FPSO”) with a Floating Storage and Offloading vessel (“FSO”) at the offshore field.VAALCO in 2021 said it had struck a charter deal with the FSO owner World Carrier Offshore Services Corp for the Cap Diamant, a double-hull crude tanker built in 2001, which will be converted to an FSO for operations at the Etame field.By deploying the FSO at the field…

BW Offshore to Fully Own FPSO Petroleo Nautipa

Following to BW Offshore's announcement of 9 July 2014, BW Offshore has signed a sale and purchase agreement with Yinson to take 100% ownership of the FPSO Petroleo Nautipa, owned through Tinworth Pte. Ltd. Tinworth, and correspondingly the FPSO, has been 50/50 owned between BW Offshore and Yinson Holdings Berhad through their respectively wholly owned Norwegian subsidiaries. The price for the 50% stake acquired from Yinson is USD 49.3 million, plus approximately USD 10 million consideration for the working capital in Tinworth. Petroleo Nautipa is operating for Vaalco Energy in Gabon under a firm charter contract until Q3 2020, with options for additional two years. Completion of the transaction is expected within Q3 2014.
