Aker Joins Johan Sverdrup Phase 2 Study

Aker Solutions will deliver a concept study on a new processing platform for future phases of the Statoil-operated Johan Sverdrup North Sea field, Norway's largest oil find in three decades. The study includes design solutions for a tie-in of the platform and future satellites to the field center that is being developed in the project's first phase. The work will be carried out by Aker Solutions in Oslo and Stavanger and will be delivered in the summer. "Johan Sverdrup is of major importance to Norway's oil industry and we're very pleased to expand our involvement through work on future phases," said Valborg Lundegaard, head of engineering at Aker Solutions. The study is being carried out under the framework engineering agreement awarded to Aker Solutions for Johan Sverdrup in 2013.

Board Changes at Aker Arctic Technology

After the acquisition of 66.4% of the shares by Finnish Industry Investment Ltd (fully owned by the State of Finland) Aker Arctic Technology Inc.’s extraordinary shareholders’ meeting today appointed the new Board of Directors for the company. Ole Johansson was nominated Chairman and Juha Marjosola Vice-Chairman of the Board. The board members are Ole Johansson, Juha Koskela (ABB Oy), Antti Kummu (Finnish Industry Investment), Valborg Lundegaard (Aker Engineering & Technology A/S) and Juha Marjosola (Finnish Industry Investment). Ole Johansson, BSc (Econ.) served as the President&CEO of Wärtsilä Corporation from 2000 to 2011. He is the Chairman of eQ Oyj and member of the Board of Svenska Handelsbanken AB.

Aker Solutions to Deliver Services to Kvaerner's Contract

On May 3, 2012 Kvaerner ASA announced its intent to use Aker Solutions as a sub-contractor for its engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract for the topside for the Edvard Grieg platform (formerly Luno). The field is operated by the Swedish oil and gas exploration and production company Lundin. Aker Solutions will deliver design engineering and procurement services from the company's offices in Oslo, Norway and Mumbai, India, with support from Kvaerner. Fabrication and assembly of the 4 500 tonne process module will be conducted by Aker Solutions' yard in Egersund.

Aker Solutions Wins Draupne FEED Contract

Aker Solutions has won a contract from Det norske oljeselskap to conduct a front-end, engineering and design (FEED) study for the Draupne field on the Norwegian continental shelf. The study will be carried out by Aker Solutions' newly established engineering office in London, and delivered to the license partners in Q4 2012. The contract value is undisclosed. "I am very pleased that Det norske has decided to follow on the pre-FEED contract with the award of the topsides FEED contract for the Draupne development. The Draupne pre-FEED was the first contract awarded to the re-established Aker Solutions engineering entity in London. The new award confirms the successful build-up of our London office," said Valborg Lundegaard, executive vice president and head of engineering in Aker Solutions.

Aker Solutions Designs World's Largest Spar Platform

Aker Solutions has been awarded a FEED (Front-End Engineering and Design) contract from Statoil to design the world's largest Spar platform for the Aasta Hansteen field development in the Norwegian Sea. With a total hull length of 193 meters and a draught of 170 meters, the Aasta Hansteen (formerly named Luva) Spar platform will be the largest of its kind. A Spar platform is a cylinder shaped floating offshore installation. Aasta Hansteen will be the first Spar platform on the Norwegian continental shelf (NCS), and also the world's first Spar platform with condensate storage capacity - a so called Belly-Spar. The Belly-Spar concept is an exclusive Aker Solutions design.
