Vale, Other Brazil Miners Ramp Up Production as Rains Subside

Brazilian miners including Vale SA are resuming production in the southeastern state of Minas Gerais after being forced to halt some operations due to heavy rains that increased the risk of accidents and caused logistics disruptions.Vale said in a securities filing on Monday that the Brucutu and Mariana mines are gradually ramping up production as part of its Vitoria-Minas railway was cleared, allowing the iron ore to be moved.According to Vale, the stoppages affected production of about 1.5 million tonnes of iron ore.

Baltic Index Extends Losses as Vessel Demand Wanes

The Baltic Exchange's dry bulk sea freight index fell for a sixth straight session on Friday, weighed down by weaker rates across vessel segments.The overall index, which factors in rates for capesize, panamax, and supramax vessels, fell 109 points, or 5.8%, to 1,764, its lowest since early March 2021. Dry Bulk: Heavy Rains Disrupt Shipping in Southeast Brazil

TechnipFMC Orders Vallourec Pipes for Mero 1

The provider tubular solutions for the energy markets Vallourec Soluçoes Tubulares do Brasil has been awarded by TechnipFMC in Brazil to supply around 12,000 tons of seamless steel rigid line pipe with outside diameters 8” and 10”.The pipe will be used in the fabrication of the riser and flowline system for interconnecting 13 wells (6 production wells and 7 water alternate gas injection wells), to be installed in the pre-salt field Mero 1, which is part of the giant Libra reservoir.Libra covers an area of 1,550 square kilometers, equivalent to the size of the Brazilian city of São Paulo, with recoverable reserves estimated in the range of 8 to 12 billion of barrels of oil.The Libra Block has been developed under a consortium agreement with Petrobras (40% share) as operator…

Serimax Awarded Welding Contract for Gas Sul North Capixaba (GSNC) project

Serimax, a 100% subsidiary of Vallourec, has been awarded the welding contract for the Gas Sul North Capixaba (GSNC) project by Subsea 7 in Brazil. Serimax will provide welding services on 151km of 18” sour service pipeline, which will run parallel to the Brazilian coast and links the Camarupim Field gas pipeline to the Parque des Baleias complex. The project management will be run from Serimax’s Brazilian facility, with welder performance qualification taking place in Houston and offshore installation onboard the vessel Polaris scheduled to start in November and completed toward the end of February 2012.
