Survey Vessel Joins Hunt for Lost F-35

Japan expanded its search for a missing F-35 stealth fighter on  with a maritime survey vessel joining a navy ship and a U.S. Navy salvage team is expected in the area in coming days, a Japanese air force spokesman said.Only small pieces of the Japanese Air Self Defense Force aircraft's tail have been found since the advanced jet disappeared from radar screens during an exercise with three other F-35s over the Pacific, near northwest Japan, on April 9."The plane and the pilot are still missing," the air force spokesman said.

Semi-sub Rig Undergoes Long Distance Tow

Maersk Supply Service has completed the tow of a semi-submersible from Las Palmas to North-Western Australia. The tow was carried out by newbuild anchor handling tug supply vessel Maersk Master of the Starfish series, whose energy efficient design minimized fuel costs during transit.The first leg of the tow of the semi-submersible MODU rig was direct from Las Palmas to Cape Town. Maersk Supply Service Wins Contract With Quadrant Energy

Maersk Master and Maersk Mariner, Maersk Supply Service’s two first Starfish-class anchor handling vessels built in 2017, will be on contract with Quadrant Energy in Western Australia, commencing March 2018. Both vessels will support Quadrant Energy’s Phoenix South and Van Gogh drilling campaign which will initially cover three wells for a duration of 150 to 200 days. The highly modern and efficient vessels will be supporting Transocean’s semi-submersible rig DD1 with supply and anchor handling duties throughout the campaign. “Quadrant Energy is an important customer. We are excited about having our two new-built Starfish vessels, Maersk Master and Maersk Mariner, operating together on this programme.

Keppel Wins $120m in Offshore Contracts

Keppel Offshore & Marine Ltd's (Keppel O&M) subsidiaries Keppel Shipyard Ltd (Keppel Shipyard) and Keppel Nantong Shipyard Co. Ltd (Keppel Nantong) won five contracts worth about $120m in total. Velocious Strengthens Subsea Services with Mock ROV

Velocious Australia has added to its portfolio of innovative subsea engineering and remote technology services through the development of a new Mock ROV. Most recently used to test tools for Chevron’s flagship Gorgon project off North West WA, the Mock ROV has the capability to replicate every function an ROV would carry out in a subsea environment to ensure safety and operational integrity. MV Fairlane Completes Heavy Lift Project

In the Exmouth sub-basin, offshore Northwest Australia, Apache Energy ltd. is developing the Van Gogh oilfield on behalf of a joint venture of the same name. As part of the Vincent field, it lies in water depths of 1,115.5 to 1,214 ft. An FPSO will be used for production and storage of the oil. The FPSO will be moored to a disconnectable turret-mooring (DTM) buoy, moored to the seabed with nine anchors. Flexible flowlines, which connect to two subsea manifolds and the production wellheads, will be attached to the buoy.

Falmouth Cruise Business Up 72%

Increasing cruise ship business brought visitors of 51 different nationalities to Falmouth during 2003 – a number that could rise even higher this year. Over the space of just three years, the port’s cruise business has risen by 72% - up from 25 ships in 2002, to 39 last year and 43 already booked for 2004. The majority of visitors are currently American, followed by British and German passengers but many other nationalities also book onto the cruises that come to the port. Keppel Wins S$100m Contracts

FPSO Umuroa has been delivered to Prosafe Production. Keppel Shipyard Ltd (Keppel Shipyard), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Keppel Offshore & Marine Limited (Keppel O&M), has been awarded two conversion contracts, worth a total of S$100 million, one by Prosafe Production Pte Ltd, and the other by Shipping Logistics Incorporated for a long term charter to Perenco S.A. The first contract awarded by Prosafe is for the conversion of a 101,832 dwt double-sided tanker, MT Kudam, into a Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) facility. Subic Shipyard & Engineering Inc (SSEI), an associate of Keppel Shipyard, will carry out the first phase of this FPSO conversion.

Boat Hits Tanker, Nine Hurt

A French tourist ship cruising on the Rhine lost steering control and collided with a Dutch tanker carrying a highly inflammable substance on Sunday, German police said. Nine of the 140 passengers aboard the French cruiser were injured and some were hospitalized, but none were seriously hurt, a police spokesman said. None of the toxic liquid spilled from the tanker, but the collision caused about $93,020 of damage to the 1990-built French cruiser Van Gogh. It had departed from Strasbourg, France, and had earlier lost steering ability. It was unable to move from the path of the approaching tanker carrying 1,200 pounds of paraxyol, the spokesman said. Police were detaining the two ships as they began an investigation on Sunday afternoon.
