Höegh Transports Heaviest Breakbulk Unit

Norway-quartered international shipping company Höegh Autoliners has broken a record for transporting the heaviest breakbulk unit shipped by a RoRo (Roll On/Roll Off) vessel from India.A press release from provider of Ro/Ro vehicle transportation services said that the 107.4 MT Generator was loaded in Ennore and will be used in a Power Generation Plant Project in Spain.Due to the concentrated weight and size ratio of the breakbulk unit, the Höegh Autoliners’ Operations team were put to the test. Great Ships of 2014: Höegh Jacksonville

Höegh Jacksonville was delivered by Daewoo-Mangalia Heavy Industries S.A. (DMHI), the first from a series of two 6,500 units Pure Car Truck Carrier (PCTC). This vessel is owned by Ocean Yield from Norway while the charterer is Höegh Autoliners AS, a leading global provider of RoRo vehicle transportation services, based also in Norway. The vessel, the biggest of her type ever built into the Black Sea and the Mediterranean Sea area, measures 655.8 x 105.8 x 32.2 ft. (199.9 x 32.26 x 10 m), a maximum speed of more than 16 knots, powered by a MAN B&W licensed main engine rated at  8,330 kW.

Dalian to Produce and Sell Kappel Propellers in China

On August 30, 2013 MAN Diesel & Turbo signed an agreement regarding the production of its Kappel propeller portfolio with Dalian Marine Propeller Co., Ltd (DMMP) – part of the China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (CSIC) Group – at its facility in Frederikshavn, Denmark. The deal allows DMMP to produce and sell MAN Alpha Kappel design propellers in China. MAN Diesel & Turbo subsequently announced that DMMP has signed a Kappel design propeller contract with Xiamen Shipbuilding Industry Co.
