F2I Buys Porto di Carrara

Italian infrastructure investment fund F2i announced its entry into the ports sector with the acquisition of the Porto di Carrara Spa (PDC Spa) Group, which owns port terminals at Carrara, Marghera and Chioggia.The Group, which each year handles around 5 million tons of solid bulk cargoes, is one of the main Italian port hubs and operates in the strategic sector of supplying some of the key Italian industrial segments, said a press release from the biggest Italian infrastructure fund with around 5 billion euro in assets under management.Most of the steel supplies for the districts of Brescia, Verona and Vicenza pass through the terminals of the PDC Group…

Eco Tankers Sells MR Tanker

Eco Tankers  has signed a memorandum of agreement for the sale of the MT High Sun, a 49,990 dwt MR product tanker vessel, built in 2014 by Hyundai MIPO, South Korea (Vinashin), for a consideration of US$ 28.7 million.Eco Tankers is a joint venture company with Venice Shipping and Logistics S.p.A., in which d’Amico International Shipping  (DIS) holds a 33% participation."This transaction will result in a profit on disposal and allows Eco Tankers to generate around US$ 12.8 million in cash, net of commissions and the reimbursement of the Vessel’s existing loan," said a press release from DIS, the international marine transportation company operating in the product.As of today…

Scorpio Buys Two Product Tankers

Scorpio Tankers has purchased an MR product tanker, currently under construction at Hyundai Mipo Dockyard, for around $37mln and a LR2 product tanker, currently under construction at Daehan Shipbuilding, for around $58.5mln. MR product tanker is scheduled for delivery in September and LR2 product tanker, is scheduled for delivery in August. Scorpio Tankers will initially bareboat charter-in the LR2 product tanker at $10,000 per day for up to nine months, before taking over the ownership of the vessel. Scorpio Tankers did not reveal the unrelated sellers of the tankers. The additions follow the May acquisition of four LR2 product tanker newbuildings for around $60m each, three of which were acquired from Oslo-listed Navig8 Product Tankers.

Two Mr. ECO Tankships Launched for d'Amico

d’Amico International Shipping S.A. (DIS) an international marine transportation company operating in the product tanker market, inform of the launch of two additional MR “ECO” vessels built at Hyundai Vinashin Shipyard Co., Ltd. (Vietnam). The first vessel, the 50,000 dwt High Sun was launched and delivered  to Eco Tankers Ltd. (Malta), a JV with Venice Shipping and Logistics S.p.A., in which DIS has 33% interest. The second vessel, the 50,000 dwt High Fidelity was also launched and is expected to be delivered to d’Amico Tankers Limited (Ireland) in Q3 2014. DIS say that both vessels are already fixed in time charter to a leading Oil Refining Company for a period of respectively three and two years at very profitable levels.

Cargoship Maritime, Magellano Marine to Restructure

Cargoship Maritime BV and Magellano Marine CV, Netherlands-based vessel operating companies managed by Seaarland Shipping Management BV (Amsterdam) have appointed Lazard and Venice Shipping & Logistics (VSL) as restructuring advisors. They will assist the companies to complete the restructuring process begun last year when thirteen owners of twenty-two vessels with time charters with Cargoship Maritime BV and two bareboat charters held by Magellano Marine CV were asked to agree to modified terms. Antonio Zacchello, managing director of Seaarland Shipping Management said, "Towards the end of last year we asked the owners we partner to adjust with us to the new realities of the marketplace.
