One Dead, Two Rescued after North Sea Ship Collision - Authority

One body has been recovered and two people have been rescued in a search and rescue mission after two freighters collided in the North Sea off the coast of Germany, the maritime emergency authority said on Tuesday. The Verity, which the Central Command for Maritime Emergencies said had sunk, had been on its way from Bremen to the English town of Immingham. The Polesie was sailing from Hamburg to La Coruna in Spain. It was not immediately clear what the vessels were carrying, if anything.

Several people are missing after two freighters collided near the German North Sea island of Heligoland, the central command for maritime emergencies said on Tuesday.The Polesie and Verity vessels collided at around 0300 GMT about 12 nautical miles (22 kilometres) southwest of Heligoland, likely causing the Verity to sink, central command said in a statement. Geo Shipyard Delivers R/V Apalachee

Geo Shipyard Inc, New Iberia, La, delivered the R/V Apalachee, a 64x21x9’, aluminum catamaran for Florida State University Coastal and Marine Laboratory, St Teresa, Florida. Designed by Fyffe Yachts with NC lofting by Eli Ring, VP of Advance Fabricating, both of Kemah, Texas, the 48 passenger T-boat will support a verity of research missions in the Gulf of Mexico. Feadship has launched the 57.60-metre twin-screw motoryacht with an interior from Bannenberg & Rowell Design. Larisa features a contemporary classic exterior profile, with a wide range of modern features. The strong curvaceous signature lines of the design are supported by a straight knuckle that runs all the way round the yacht from the bow to the stern. At the launch ceremony, Feadship director Henk de Vries praised the excellent cooperation with the owner's team, Bannenberg & Rowell Design and the captain.
