CMA CGM Launches Direct Asia Service from New Orleans

France-based CMA CGM today announced a new direct weekly container service to Asia from the Port of New Orleans Napoleon Avenue Container Terminal. Part of the company’s PEX3 service, the inaugural vessel is scheduled to arrive on January 31 for service by terminal operator Ports America. “CMA CGM is proud to be expanding our presence in New Orleans, further showing our commitment to the Gulf region, and Louisiana specifically. We look forward to continued growth in the region, and are pleased to be contributing to the evolution and development of this vital hub. In the U.S., the Group now offers a global coverage with 23 services in and out of North America to over 150 countries around the world,” said Marc Bourdon, CMA CGM America LLC President.

CMA CGM Launches New TransAtlantic Service

The CMA CGM Group announced that it will launch a new container shipping offering between North America and North Europe at the end of May 2015. The group will expand its existing transatlantic services with the launch of the NEW VESPUCCI service and the addition of a new port of call in Baltimore to its LIBERTY SOLO service. New Orleans Cargo Totals at 14-year High

Cargo worked at the Port of New Orleans’ public docks in 2014 totaled 8.37 million tons, the highest total since 2000 and up 28 percent compared to the prior 12-month period, the port reported. Imported steel and container cargo led the growth, as imported iron and steel rose 101.6 percent in the 12-month-period to 3.54 million tons. Overall breakbulk tons totaled 3.76 million tons, up 51.7 percent and container tons topped 4.61 million tons, up 13.5 percent compared to the prior year. “It was a busy year for the port and these numbers reflect the success we’ve realized from the combined efforts of the entire port community,” said Gary LaGrange, port president and CEO. “This is great news and creates momentum for our terminal operators and customers.

CMA CGM Adds New Orleans to Weekly Service

Shippers will soon have new direct weekly options to Europe from the Port of New Orleans. CMA CGM, the world’s third-largest container carrier, will add the Port of New Orleans to its Victory Bridge Service. The service is scheduled to launch February 2 with the arrival of the CMA CGM Jamaica at the port’s Napoleon Avenue Container Terminal. “We are thrilled to have France-based CMA CGM add the Port of New Orleans to their Victory Bridge Service,” said Port President and CEO Gary LaGrange.

CMA CGM Upgrades Service, North Europe, South Atlantic, Mexico and the Gulf

CMA CGM announced the launch of its New Victory Bridge service linking North Europe to U.S. South Atlantic, Mexico and the U.S. Gulf, effective October 17, 2010. •          An optimal coverage of the Mexican market and two weekly departures from Mexico, allowing the Group to respond to the dynamism of trade from North Europe and the growing demand for refrigerated goods toward this market. The rotation of the New Victory Bridge service will be as follows: Le Havre - Antwerp - Rotterdam - Bremerhaven - Charleston - Miami - Vera Cruz - Altamira - Houston - Miami - Le Havre. The ports of Savannah and Felixstowe, included in the previous rotation, will now be served through CMA CGM’s Round The World and Liberty Bridge services.

CMA CGM Adds New Orleans

The world’s third largest container shipping company, CMA CGM, announced a new weekly service calling the Port of New Orleans. The Victory Bridge will offer direct calls to North Europe effective Oct. 21. As the newest port added to the rotation, the weekly service will offer competitive transit times to Antwerp, Felixstowe, Bremerhaven and Le Harve.
