AD Ports Group and the Vietnam Maritime Administration (VINAMARINE), have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to bolster commercial opportunities across various sectors, including ports, logistics, digital solutions, economic cities, free zones, maritime and shipping.Under the terms of the agreement, both entities will focus on key areas of cooperation, including the development and management of dry ports and inland container depots in addition to advanced logistics operations and digital solutions to enhance global maritime and shipping sectors.

Under the Marine Environment Protection of the South-East Asian Seas (MEPSEAS) project, a first national training course in Hai Phong, Viet Nam (3-7 June) is dealing with legal implementation of the Ballast Water Management (BWM) and Anti-Fouling Systems (AFS) conventions.MEPSEAS project is run by the International Maritime Organization (IMO). It  is supporting Viet Nam in its work to apply two IMO treaties aimed at protecting the marine environment.Participants are key personnel involved in developing national policies and drafting national regulation. On July 11-12, 2018, Maritime Administrator Mark Buzby met with ‎the Vietnam Maritime Administration\\'s (VINAMARINE) Administrator Dr. Nguyen Xuan Sang and Deputy Administrator Dr. Bui Thien Thu in Hanoi, Vietnam. This meeting, under the implementation of the US-Vietnam Bilateral Agreement, included discussions on the topics of maritime policy, vessels safety and security, port infrastructure development, maritime workforce and mariner training. On July 12th, Administrator Buzby visited the ports of Hai Phong and Lach Huyen. The US Coast Guard and US Department of State also participated.

On October 29, 2015 Cai Mep International Terminal (CMIT) received the maiden call of the 14,000 TEU m/v CSCL Star, the ultra large container vessel (ULCV) of 157,000 DWT, deployed in the Ocean 3 Alliance, marking the first Vietnam/Northern Europe direct service. Notably, within the last week, two feeder services have also started to call at CMIT to connect both the local Vietnamese export cargo and the international export cargo from Thailand and Cambodia, all transshipped through CMIT.

Vietnam says no to foreign firms to provide container transportation service on domestic routes, says a report published in VietNamNet Bridge. The Vietnam Maritime Bureau (Vinamarine) has sent a dispatch to the Ministry of Transport (MOT) seeking to continue policies to protect its fleet in the domestic transportation market. The increase in the number of vessels and the unchanged volume of goods are the two reasons it cited as a basis for the proposal. Earlier in 2013, Vietnam imposed a ban on foreign firms. However, the decision did not specify whether the ban would be removed in the future, or if would be valid for an indefinite time. There have been reports that a foreign shipping firm has been lobbying for their return to the domestic market.

Damen delivered the last Search and Rescue Vessel, out of a series of six vessel to Vinamarine (Vietnam National Maritime Bureau). The vessel, named SAR 413, was delivered to Vinamarine in presence of the Vice Minister of Transportation, the Chairman of Vinamarine and the Ambassador of The Netherlands as well as representatives of Vinamarine, Damen and local industries. Delivery took place in the port of Haiphong and the vessel will based in Vietnam’s southern port of Vung Tau to be deployed in Vietnam’s southern coastal areas. The SAR 413 is a member of the Damen Stan Patrol Series and measures 137.8 x 23 ft. (42 x 7 m).
