Britain's Princess Anne will on Friday officially open Port of Aberdeen’s £420 million South Harbor expansion project on Friday. First Large Cruise Vessel Arrives in Aberdeen South Harbour

Port of Aberdeen said Tuesday it had welcomed the first cruise ship into the "transformational" £400 million Aberdeen South Harbour expansion. The 203-meter-long AIDAaura, with a capacity for more than 1,200 guests, is the longest vessel to visit the Port of Aberdeen to date. The vessel arrived from Hamburg, Germany, for a full day visit as part of a Scottish cruise. The AIDAaura berthed on Castlegate Quay, and the guests were greeted by a 50-strong pipe band and Highland dancers from Robert Gordon’s College and ‘Welcome to Aberdeenshire’ volunteers.

Port Milwaukee Seeks Proposals for South Shore Cruise Dock

Port Milwaukee said it is seeking proposals from prospective tenants for development at its South Shore Cruise Dock.This waterfront five-acre site, located immediately east of the Lake Express High Speed Ferry terminal, is available for development of recreational, entertainment, tourism, cultural, passenger vessel and public access uses. World’s Largest Box Ship Visits Rotterdam

World’s largest container ship MSC Gülsün will visit port of Rotterdam. The ship will be calling on the APMT2 terminal at Maasvlakte 2 in Rotterdam on Tuesday, 3 September, between 2 and 3 p.m.With a length of 400 meters and a width of 62 meters, this vessel has a capacity of 23,756 TEU (20-foot standard containers), making it the largest container ship in the world.MSC Gülsün is the first vessel of its kind that can transport 24 containers side by side across the breadth of its hull.Until recently, the 21,413-TEU OOCL HongKong, which was taken into service two years ago, ranked as the world’s largest container ship.MSC Gulsun is 400 meter long and 61.5 meter wide ship can carry 23,756 standard containers (TEU), including 2,000 refrigerated containers.

Indian Warships Visit Port Victoria

In a demonstration of India’s commitment to its ties with Seychelles and maritime security in the Indian Ocean Region, Indian Naval Ships Kolkata, Trikand and Aditya under the Command of the Flag Officer Commanding Western Fleet, Rear Admiral Ravneet Singh,NM have arrived at Port Victoria on a two day visit, says a government press release. INS Kolkata is commanded by Captain Rahul Vilas Gokhale, INS Trikand is commanded by Captain Arjun Dev Nair and INS Aditya is commanded by Captain Vidyanshu Srivastava. The ships are part of the Indian Navy’s Western Fleet based at Mumbai under the Western Naval Command and are on a two month long deployment in the Western Indian Ocean. During the visit, the IN ships would engage with the Seychelles People Defence Force on professional issues.

New Fednav Ship to Visit Port of Duluth-Superior

One of six newly-built bulk carriers in the Fednav fleet, the Federal Bering, is making its first full transit of the Great Lakes St. Lawrence Seaway system this week en route to the Port of Duluth-Superior. While this will be a first for the ship, its cargo will end up being the last outbound grain shipment of the 2015 shipping season for the Twin Ports. INS Teg in South Indian Ocean for Surveillance

Indian Navy's stealth frigate INS Teg is on a two-month long deployment in the South Indian Ocean to provide surveillance support in the region, a Government of India Ministry of Defence official statement said. It will also be patrolling the Mauritian exclusive economic zone. This is in keeping with India's national objective of ensuring a secure and stable regional environment to allow unhindered economic and social development, not just in India, but also in the entire Indian Ocean Region. The Navy said the deployment is in keeping with “India’s national objective of ensuring a secure and stable regional environment to allow unhindered economic and social development” in Indian Ocean Region (IOR) — more so against the increasing Chinese footprints in the region.

The Port of Houston Authority hosted Congressional leaders on port matters for a facilitated visit and tour of the Port of Houston, Friday, June 5. Congresswoman Janice Hahn, Congressman Ted Poe and Congressman Brian Babin visited the Port of Houston and learned more about the national impact of the Port of Houston overall and in particular its safety and security measures. The visit was arranged upon the invitation of Congressman Poe, who along with Congresswoman Hahn co-chair the PORTS Caucus, which represents more than 100 ports across the nation.

Three Cruise Ships Visit Port in One Day

The Port of San Diego to welcome 3 cruise ships on Tuesday, May 7, bringing thousands of passengers to the port city. Two of the vessels, the Celebrity Solstice and the Oceania Regatta , will be making their inaugural visits to the Port of San Diego. At 1,041 feet, the Solstice is the longest in length cruise ship to call on San Diego. The third visitor is Holland America Line's Zuiderdam. Passengers will be debarking the three cruise ships between 9 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. Many will be boarding tour buses for shoreside excursions and there will be a large number of taxis, shuttles and private vehicles picking up other passengers. San Diego's cruise business benefits the region's economy. Each cruise that begins and ends its voyage in San Diego has an economic impact of $2 million.

Coast Guard Tall Ship to Visit Port Canaveral

-The Coast Guard Cutter Barque Eagle will sail into Port Canaveral Friday for a weekend of free public tours and time ashore for the crew. Eagle, the largest tall ship flying the Stars and Stripes, is scheduled to arrive at 8 a.m. on Friday, January 30, at Cruise Terminal 4. Brevard and Central Florida residents are invited to Jetty Park to greet the vessel. Parking fees will be waived from 7 a.m. until 8:30 a.m. Free American flags will be distributed. Public tours will be conducted on Saturday from noon until 4 p.m. and Sunday from 1 p.m. until 6 p.m.

Grande Mariner to Visit Port of Duluth-Superior

The Grande Mariner, a 183-ft., 100-passenger U.S. cruise vessel, is scheduled to make her third visit to the Port of Duluth-Superior on July 22. The vessel is scheduled to arrive at the Duluth Entertainment and Convention Center (DECC) dock at approximately noon on Thursday, where it will be greeted by a welcoming ceremony that will include the Duluth Community Band. The Grande Mariner, which called at Duluth twice last year, is visiting the Port this month as part of a “Lake Superior Grande Tour” offered by American Canadian Caribbean Line (ACCL). The Port of Duluth-Superior will be used as a debarkation/embarkation point for the cruise vessel, which is scheduled to depart at noon on July 25 with new passengers. This tour for the vessel commences in Chicago, Ill., and ends in Warren, R.I.

Connaughton to Visit Port of VA

The nation’s new top maritime official, Maritime Administrator Sean T. Connaughton, will make his first trip outside Washington to the Port of Virginia on Friday, September 15. Administrator Connaughton will inspect the port and receive a briefing on how the facility is expanding to deal with growing demand for cargo shipments and how this growth is creating new local jobs and investment. Administrator Connaughton will take a boat tour of the port to view existing facilities and learn about expansion plans.

Members of Congressional Committee to Visit Port of Houston

Members of Congressional Committee to Visit Port of Houston Democratic members of the U.S. House Committee on Homeland Security will visit the Port of Houston tomorrow. The democratic members of the congressional committee are reviewing port security strategies and tactics. The Port of Houston Authority (PHA) has applied for approximately $13 million in port security grant funds. Grants are expected to be awarded in May. Congress has approved an additional $150 million in port security grants for FY 2003. These funds will be available after the $105 million in supplemental congressional funds for FY 2002 have been awarded.
