NAMEPA Celebrates Over 100 Members Strong

April 22, 2011- While Earth Day was being celebrated around the world, a young maritime industry led agency added to the festivities by announcing it now has over 100 members. CG Hosts World War II Women Veterans

The Vice Commandant of the U.S. Coast Guard will host a panel discussion scheduled for August 6, 1:00 p.m., 2100 2nd St., SW, room 2415, here, with 10 women who served in the Coast Guard during World War II. Vice Adm. Vivien Crea, the service's first woman to achieve the rank of Vice Admiral, will lead a discussion among 10 veterans of the U.S. Coast Guard Women's Reserve, who are also known as SPARs. Joining the panel will be the Coast Guard's most junior enlisted woman and most junior commissioned woman serving in the National Capital Region. This gathering of history-making women provides a unique opportunity to hear first-hand the experiences of women in the U.S. Coast Guard.

Fighting Semi-Submersible Threat

Colombian Naval Forces Commander, Adm. Guillermo Enrique Barrera Hurtado met with U.S. Coast Guard Vice Commandant, Vice Adm. Vivien Crea, during his visit to Coast Guard Headquarters July 16. Among topics of discussion was a law passed in Colombia July 9 that makes all persons who finance, construct, store, commercialize, transport, procure or use semi-submersibles or submersibles with illicit intent, susceptible to fines between approximately $246,340 and $17,243,800 and incarceration from six to 14 years.

CG Foundation Honors USCG Eighth District

The Coast Guard Foundation, a non-profit organization committed to the education, welfare and morale of all Coast Guard members and their families, announced that its Guardian of the Heartland Annual Tribute to the United States Coast Guard’s Eighth District will take place on Friday, April 3, 2009 in New Orleans, Louisiana. CG Foundation Honors 14th District

The Coast Guard Foundation, a non-profit organization committed to the education, welfare and morale of all Coast Guard members and their families, announced today its Annual Tribute to the United States Coast Guard’s Fourteenth District will take place on Thursday, March 12, 2009 in Honolulu, Hawaii. Honoring local Coast Guard members who protect coastline shores from the Hawaiian Islands to Guam, the gala’s Chairman is Mr. Lee Webber, publisher and president of the Honolulu Advertiser; the Master of Ceremonies will be Mr. Michael Perry, a recognized name in Hawaiian broadcast history; and the Guest of Honor and Keynote Speaker will be former Secretary of Transportation, Norman Mineta.

Coast Guard, NJ State Marine Police Form Partnership

Rear Adm. David Pekoske, Commander, First Coast Guard District, Rear Adm. Sally Brice O’Hara, Commander, Fifth Coast Guard District and New Jersey Acting Governor Richard J. Codey will formalize an important maritime security partnership at a signing ceremony to be held Liberty State Park at 2 p.m. Thursday.
