Admiral Vladimir Korolev, Commander-in-Chief, Russian Federation Navy along with a four member Russian Navy delegation is on an official visit to India from 15 to 18 March 2017. The visit aims to consolidate bilateral naval relations between India and Russia, as also to explore new avenues for naval cooperation. During his visit, the Commander-in-Chief of Russian Navy held bilateral discussions with Admiral Sunil Lanba, PVSM, AVSM, ADC, Chief of the Naval Staff and other senior officials of the Indian Navy. The Admiral is also scheduled to meet the Hon’ble Minister of Defence, the Chief of the Air Staff, the Chief of the Army Staff and the Defence Secretary as part of his official engagements in New Delhi.

JSC Admiralty Shipyards has finished building a series of six submarines for the Russian Navy’s Black Sea fleet, marked with a flag lifting ceremony on the large diesel-electric submarine Kolpino, which was transferred to the Russian Navy. The ceremony was attended by Chief of the Navy, Vladimir Korolev; president of JSC United Shipbuilding Corporation, Alexei Rakhmanov; and CEO of JSC Admiralty Shipyards, Alexander Buzakov. “It is difficult to overestimate the significance of today's event for our team,” said Buzakov.

TASS reports that Vladimir Monomakh Borey class nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarine (Project 955) will complete the voyage to the Pacific Fleet before the yearend, quoting Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy Admiral Vladimir Korolev. The Russian Navy has started receiving fourth-generation Project 955 Borei-class (Dolgorukiy-class) submarines recently. It has three of them now - the Yuri Dolgoruky, Alexander Nevsky and Vladimir Monomakh. The Prince Vladimir is due for delivery to the Pacific Fleet next year. Four more ships in the class are due before 2020. Thus, the Russian SSBN fleet will comprise 15 submarines, if the Project 667BDR family is decommissioned.

The latest oceanographic research vessel "Yantar" has arrived at the base of the Northern Fleet in Murmansk region. This was announced by Head of Press Service of the Federation Council Vadim Serga. "The crew has completed the transition from the Atlantic Ocean to the Kola Bay" - quoted by TASS Sergey. In May of this year, "Amber" was raised by St. Andrew's flag. This was followed by testing of the equipment and facilities the ship in the deep Atlantic. Russia launched military exercises in the Arctic. According to press service of Russia’s Defence Ministry, the interservice exercise of the Northern Fleet forces started in the Arctic at the Taimyr Peninsula. According to the Northern Fleet Commander Admiral Vladimir Korolev, this exercise is directed to strengthening security of the Russian Arctic, providing free economic activity of the country and protection of its territory against potential military threats. More than 1,000 soldiers, 14 aircraft and 34 special military units are taking part in drills in northern Siberia, weeks after Russia pressed a claim at the United Nations for an additional 1.2 million square kilometers (463,000 square miles) of Arctic shelf.

Two vessel groups from Russia’s Northern Fleet will be sailing Arctic waters during the busiest season for commercial shipping along the Northern Sea Route reports the 'Barents Observer'. Citing Commander Vladimir Korolev's press statement Barents Observer reports that the Russian Navy plans to send a detachment of the fleet’s combat ships led by the nuclear-powered missile cruiser “Pyotr Velily” to eastern regions of the Arctic Ocean".
