Valmet to Supply Automation for Expedition Cruise Pair

Valmet will supply automation and information systems for two luxury expedition vessels being built by Helsinki Shipyard Oy in Finland for Russia’s largest river cruise company Vodohod Ltd.The 113-meter-long and 20.2-meter-wide vessels will have an ice class of PC5 and a passenger capacity of 157 persons. Their draught is 5.7 meters, and cruising speed is 14 knots. Helsinki Shipyard Acquisition Wrapping Up

The acquisition of the current Arctech Helsinki Shipyard in Finland will be finalized in May, the involved parties say, having agreed to transaction terms on May 9.In preparation for the closing, current owner Arctech Helsinki Shipyard Oy (AHS) said it has established a new company, Helsinki Shipyard Oy, which will receive the transferred assets and operations from AHS and continue shipbuilding at the shipyard. AHS will then sell 100% of Helsinki Shipyard Oy’s shares to Algador Holdings Ltd.…

Aquarius Russian Cruise Ship

Aquarius cruise ship from Russia is coming into operation in 2009. Vodohod Russian River Cruises has recently launched a revolutionary project. The company started the construction of the first Russian luxe-class cruise motorship 4. The construction is entrusted to a well known European shipbuilder, long professional experience of this company is a guarantee of success. The new four deck motorship will accommodate 210 guests at once. It is going to be one of the top ships in Russia with luxurious décor, large well appointed cabins, elegant public areas, wide circular stairs and lift. According to the construction schedule, Aquarius will appear on the Russian market in May 2009.
