Fire Put Out at Golden Ray Wreck Site

Engineers are assessing the condition of the Golden Ray wreck and salvage equipment after a fire ripped through the overturned and partially dismantled car carrier outside the Port of Brunswick, Ga. on Friday.The fire broke out on Friday afternoon aboard the Korean-owned Golden Ray, which has been aground on its side in the St. Simons Sound outside the nation's second largest car carrier port since it capsized shortly after departing the Port of Brunswick in September 2019.Firefighting…

Gumbs to take the Helm of Bosch Rexroth North America

BW Offshore's FPSO Stuck in New Zealand

Buoys to Be Installed Below Dams for Safety

Consumers Energy informs it is coordinating with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources to install buoys this month to help warn the public to stay out of potentially unsafe areas immediately downstream of hydro facilities. "People should not be in the immediate area of a dam's tailrace or spillway for boating, wading or any activity. For safety purposes, our employees can enter these areas only after following stringent safety procedures, which include locking out equipment that affect flow and wearing personal protection equipment," said Rich Castle, Consumers Energy's natural resource administrator for hydro operations. Foote and Cooke dams are on the Au Sable River in Iosco County. Croton Dam is on the Muskegon River in Newaygo County.

BWT: the Cost of Great Lakes Invasive Species Damage

Research project shows invasive species cost the Great Lakes millions of dollars. Although there has been growing recognition among researchers and policymakers that shipborne invasive species cause a considerable economic toll, this environmental problem often goes unaddressed because of the difficulty in quantifying annual impacts on ecosystem services. MMS Names Cooke Regional Supervisor

Minerals Management Service (MMS) Gulf of Mexico Regional Director Lars Herbst has selected David W. Cooke, Ph.D. as the new Regional Supervisor for Resource Evaluation in the Gulf Region Office. New Aegis Destroyer Christened

Navy to Commission New Guided-Missile Destroyer Halsey

The Navy will commission the newest Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer, Halsey (DDG 97), July 30 during an 11 a.m. PDT ceremony at Pier J, Naval Air Station Coronado, Calif. Sen. John McCain of Arizona will deliver the ceremony's principal address. Heidi Cooke Halsey, Anne Halsey-Smith, and Alice “Missy” Spruance Talbot will serve as sponsors of the ship named for their grandfather. Halsey honors U.S. Naval Academy graduate Fleet Adm.
