Wagenborg Installs Shore Power Connection on Kroonborg Vessel

Wagenborg Offshore has installed and commissioned a shore connection system on the Kroonborg walk-to-work (W2W) vessel in collaboration with NAM/Shell UK, and the support of Dutch province of North Holland.The shore power system was developed and engineered by Dutch company Eekels Technology.Additionally, Eekels Technology, in partnership with the Port of Den Helder, is advancing a hydrogen shore power generator project in cooperation with the Port of Harlingen and Groningen Seaports.The hydrogen generator is set to become operational by the end of 2023.

Wagenborg Offshore Takes Delivery of Subsea Support Vessel Kingsborg

Wagenborg Offshore has taken delivery of the Kingsborg subsea support vessel.Kingsborg is a subsea support vessel, converted from a platform supply vessel, that will support subsea activities and decommissioning works in the southern North Sea in a long-term agreement with an energy major, Wagenborg said, without sharing the name of the client."After the positive experiences with the W2W vessels Kasteelborg and Keizersborg, Wagenborg has once again opted to convert a standard Platform Supply Vessel into this specialist offshore vessel.

Wagenborg Towage confirmed Monday that Jan De Nul had awarded it a contract for transporting 107 monopile foundations for Gode Wind 3 and Borkum Riffgrund 3 offshore wind farms in Germany to Eemshaven. Royal Wagenborg renews contract with Castor Marine

Royal Wagenborg renewed and extended Castor Marine’s Global Ku VSAT connection for multiple years.Since 1898 the Dutch family-owned shipping company has been crossing the oceans, evolving to a fleet operator with about 200 vessels. Besides the extension of 52 Global Ku VSAT contracts, Castor Marine will equip an additional 15 Wagenborg vessels, currently on 4G, with VSAT. For more than eight years the company has provided VSAT, Iridium, Inmarsat FBB, and IT services to the Wagenborg fleet.

Castor Marine Expands North Sea 4G Network

Castor Marine signed a reseller agreement with Tampnet, an offshore 4G LTE network operator in the North Sea, and immediately went to work for its first 4G Tampnet client: supply 4G LTE offshore connectivity to the WTW vessel Keizersborg.With this deal, Castor Marine is now an official Tampnet Activation Point, adding value to its customers’ operations. In the past, vessels supported by Castor Marine automatically switched to the VSAT connection of the company’s own network when moving outside of 4G coverage and vice versa.

Port of Baltimore Bests Its Container Moves Record

The Helen Delich Bentley Port of Baltimore reports it has again topped its record for most container moves from a single ship.The 6,000 container moves conducted by longshore workers from the Maersk Edinburgh at the Seagirt Marine Terminal this week are the most ever in the port's the 315-year history. Wagenborg Commissions New Cargo Ship Máxima

The second EasyMax multipurpose cargo vessel has been delivered to Royal Wagenborg and affiliated owners and taken into service under her official name Máxima.Built at the Royal Niestern Sander shipyard, the vessel is 149.95 meters long, with 15.9-meter beam and 8.6-meter draft. The ship has two large rectangular holds – 13.5 meters wide, 12.1 meters high, and 47.36 meters and 64.38 meters long, respectively. It has a total cargo capacity of more than 14,000 tonnes and a hold capacity of 625,000 cubic feet.The EasyMax design features only a limited amount of equipment in the hold.

Elektron Mobilized at Delfzijl

GMM Project Shortlists Nine Ships

The Green Maritime Methanol (GMM) consortium announced that it has selected nine ships for research on the application of renewable methanol as a marine fuel.New designs, newbuildings as well as existing ships of Boskalis, Van Oord, the Royal Netherlands Navy and Wagenborg Shipping were selected.The vessel sizes vary in length from between 40 - 160 meter, with tonnage ranging from 300 - 23.000 dwt and in installed power from 1 - 12 MW. Research for these ships will start with determination of the cost for implementation and use of methanol fuel systems. Wagenborg Closes Geodis Project

With the m.v. Marietje Hester discharged bridge sections in Frederiksværk, Denmark, Royal Royal Wagenborg shipping in total 492 concrete segments in 44 voyages from Szczecin, Poland to Denmark and successfully closes the Geodis project.Early 2018 the project started after the Danish authorities have initiated the Fjord Link project to build a new bridge over the Roskilde fjord. The 8.2 km four-lane link will be located just south of Frederikssund.The bridge is planned to open in 2019, so the final sections of the bridge need to be in Denmark by early 2019. Alaskaborg Completes Special Voyage

Netherlands-based maritime transport solutions provider Royal Wagenborg said that its vessel m.v. Alaskaborg completed a special voyage from the Baltic to the Far East.The 15,750 DWT geared vessel from the Wagenborg fleet combined a bulk cargo and project cargo in both box-shaped holds. With this voyage, the m.v. Alaskaborg again demonstrates the flexibility and possibilities of the Wagenborg fleet.First in Tornio, Finland, the ice-classed Alaskaborg loaded 13.000 tonnes of ferrochrome. Wagenborg Orders Newbuild at Niestern Sander

Dutch shipowner and operator Royal Wagenborg has ordered a second EasyMax type carrier from compatriot shipbuilder Royal Niestern Sander.Royal Niestern Sander confirmed that it had received an order from Wagenborg for the construction of a sister vessel of the Egbert Wagenborg. The yard will soon start the construction of the second ship of this EasyMax type.This announcement was made during the christening ceremony of the electric inspection vessel PW-18 that Niestern Sander is building for the Province of Groningen.This first electric inspection vessel was christened today by Mrs. Fleur Gräper-Van Koolwijk, representative of the Province of Groningen.

Green Maritime Methanol Project Gets a Boost

Consortium Appointed to Refloat ‘MV Priscilla’

A consortium of salvage companies have been appointed by the owners of the MV Priscilla, a cargo ship that ran aground off Caithness.The consortium, Multraship/Ardent/Wagenborg, have begun deploying equipment to the site on the Pentland Skerries.It is expected that an outline salvage plan will be prepared for discussion between key stakeholders and the Acting SOSRep, Hugh Shaw for approval. A Salvage Control Unit (SCU) will then be established near the incident.Acting SOSRep Hugh Shaw has established a Temporary Exclusion Zone of 500m around the incident site to ensure that there is no risk to the safety of persons engaged on the salvage operations and for other shipping traffic transiting or working in the area.

MV Priscilla Successfully Re-floated

The cargo ship MV Priscilla was successfully re-floated, said Her Majesty's Coastguard (HM Coastguard), a section of the Maritime and Coastguard Agency in UK.Following an initial assessment it was agreed she was in safe condition to be towed to Scapa Flow, Orkney Isles.The vessel will arrive tomorrow morning and will go to safe anchorage where a further assessment, including an underwater dive inspection, will be carried out.The ship with six crew on board ran aground on the Pentland Skerries last Wednesday.The Priscilla remained hard aground with the crew safely on board while the owner and the authorities made plans for a larger-scale salvage effort.The salvor companies - Multraship/Ardent/Wagenborg - removed 28 tonnes of Marine Gas Oil (MGO) from the vessel.

Shell Netherlands CEO Christens Wagenborg's W2W Vessel

The second Walk to Work vessel in the fleet of Wagenborg Offshore was unveiled on the Nieuwediepkade in the port of Den Helder. The Walk to Work Emergency Response and Rescue Vessel Kasteelborg was christened by Mrs. Marjan van Loon, CEO Shell Netherlands.Kasteelborg will serve as standby and support vessel in collaboration with the Kroonborg, which was commissioned almost three years ago, with maintenance of the unmanned platforms on the southern North Sea.Nederlandse Aardolie Maatschappij (NAM) and Shell UK Exploration & Production (Shell UK) have signed a 6-year agreement with Wagenborg Offshore for the deployment of this second 'Walk-to-Work Vessel' (W2W).The Kasteelborg is similar in size to Kroonborg, but her activities are different in nature.
