Anglo American Takes Delivery of Final LNG Dual-fuel Bulk Carrier

Anglo American has taken delivery of its 10th and final dual-fueled bulk carrier powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG), the company said on Wednesday.The capesize-plus LNG dual-fueled bulk carriers have been built and delivered over the last three years from Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co.

CMA CGM Lines Up Methanol Retrofits

Performance Shipping Orders Two LR2 Tankers

Greek shipowner Performance Shipping Inc. announced it has signed two shipbuilding contracts with China Shipbuilding Trading Co. Ltd. (CSTC) and Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co. Ltd. Seaspan Enters Car Carrier Segment in Order with Glovis

Containerships owner/operator Seaspan Corporation signaled its entry into the car carrier segment in confirming a deal to order a series of new pure car and truck carriers (PCTC) in partnership with Hyundai Glovis (Glovis).The 10,800 CEU are the largest PCTCs under development to date. China's First Home-Grown Large Cruise Ship Starts Sea Trials

China's first domestically-built large cruise ship, the Adora Magic City, has departed from Shanghai for sea trials.The 135,500 gross tonne vessel was built by China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC) Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding. It is being classified by Lloyd’s Register and China Classification Society.The vessel has 2,125 guest rooms and can accommodate up to 5,246 passengers. The public entertainment area is over 40,000 square meters (nearly six standard football fields) over 16 floors.

SWS Delivers Dual-fuel Capesize to the Angelicoussis Group

Greek shipowner the Angelicoussis Group announced its dry bulk division has taken delivery of its first dual-fuel Capesize bulk carrier.Ubuntu Unity was officially handed over to its Maran Dry Management (MDM) from Chinese shipbuilder Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. (SWS) on February 28, 2023.The newbuild is 299.9 meters long with a 47.5-meter beam and cargo capacity of about 190,000 metric tons. It is classed by DNV and flies the Greek flag.A sister vessel, Ubuntu Community, is scheduled to be delivered to MDM from SWS in the coming months.

Anglo American's First LNG Dual-fuel Bulk Carrier Enters Service

Mining company Anglo American announced that its newly launched liquefied natural gas (LNG) dual-fueled Capesize+ vessel, the Ubuntu Harmony, has loaded its first cargo of iron ore from its Kumba operations in South Africa.The 190,000 tonne bulk carrier, flagged in Singapore, is the first of 10 LNG dual-fueled newbuilds that Anglo American will introduce to its chartered fleet during the course of 2023 and 2024, delivering an estimated 35% reduction in CO2 emissions compared to ships fueled by conventional marine oil fuel.

Grimaldi Orders More Ammonia Ready Car Carriers

The Grimaldi Group announced it has exercised its option for the construction of five additional ammonia-ready 9,000 CEU car carriers from China Merchants Heavy Industries Jiangsu, part of China Merchant Industry Holdings (CMI).Grimaldi announced its initial order for five new pure car and truck carrier (PCTC) vessels from CMI in October. The 10 vessels are scheduled to be delivered between 2025 and 2027 and will be deployed on voyages between Europe, North Africa, and the Near and Far East.Grimaldi said it developed the vessel concept in collaboration with naval architecture firm Knud E.

SWS Launches New Tanker for Enesel

Greek shipping company the Enesel Group announced the launch of its new Aframax/LR2 tanker Kavafis.The newbuild, which is currently being built by China's Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co Ltd (SWS), is the first in a series of three vessels ordered by the Enesel Group. It was launched on December 30, Enesel said.The vessel will be classed by Lloyd’s Register and built to Hellenic flag requirements.It is scheduled for delivery in April 2023.

SBM Orders Seventh Fast4Ward Hull

Dutch FPSO leasing specialist SBM Offshore has ordered its latest Fast4Ward multi-purpose floater hull as it marked a new record level order book at $31.1 billion. The latest Fast4Ward floating production unit (FPU) is expected to be delivered in 2024, the firm said yesterday in its half year earnings. It also said it could have near-zero emissions FPSO available to the market by 2025. "Our market outlook for new FPSOs remains positive as the world requires energy which is not only sustainable, but also affordable and reliable," said Bruno Chabas, CEO of SBM Offshore.

Four New Dual-fuel Bulkers to Support U-Ming Charter Deal

U-Ming Marine Transport Corporation, Taiwan’s largest publicly listed bulk carrier company, secured a 10-year liquefied natural gas (LNG) dual-fuel dry bulk charter contract with global mining company Anglo American.A fleet of four LNG dual-fuel Tier III 190,000 DWT bulk carriers measuring 299 by 47.5 meters each will be built by Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding (SWS) to support the charter. SWS Building Cruise Ship for CSSC, Carnival JV

Ltd (SWS) has started hull construction for the first cruise ship that it is building for CSSC Carnival Cruise Shipping Limited, joint venture between Carnival Corporation and CSSC.The new vessel, scheduled for delivery in 2023, will accommodate about 4,250 passengers, in addition to 1,400 crew members. China's Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding (SWS) shipyard has delivered another Guyana-bound FPSO hull for the Dutch FPSO specialist SBM Offshore.Following the delivery of the Liza Unity hull in late 2019, SWS on Monday delivered the Liza Prosperity hull, the second hull built under SBM Offshore's Fast4Ward standardized-FPSO-hull program. The construction of the FPSO Prosperity hull started in January 2019.The FPSO Prosperity is expected to be deployed at ExxonMobil's Stabroek block offshore Guyana, as part of the Payara oil field development.

SWS Shipyard Delivers Two Platform Suppliers for COSL
