Largest UASC Ship Calls at Khorfakkan Terminal

United Arab Shipping Company (UASC), a leading container shipping line and emerging global carrier, and Gulftainer, the world’s largest privately-owned, independent port operator based in the UAE, marked the maiden call of UASC’s 15,000 TEU M.V. Linah into Khorfakkan Container Terminal (KCT), at an event today. The M.V. RSGT Mulls Expansion, Celebrates the Arrival of Al-Nefud

United Arab Shipping Company (UASC) and Red Sea Gateway Terminal (RSGT) celebrated the world’s greenest ultra-large container vessel 18,800TEU M.V. Al Nefud during its maiden call to RSGT at Jeddah Islamic Port. Nefud is one of the class of ships that will contribute greatly to lowering UASC’s overall CO2 emissions from its fleet. 'World's Greenest Containership' Calls Red Sea Gateway

United Arab Shipping Company (UASC) and Red Sea Gateway Terminal (RSGT) celebrated the world’s greenest ultra-large container vessel 18,800TEU M.V. Al Nefud during its maiden call to RSGT at Jeddah Islamic Port today. UASC calls at DP World London Gateway with Record Load

DP World London Gateway has welcomed one of the world’s largest container ships carrying a record 18,601-teu. The UASC-owned Al Muraykh called at DP World London Gateway to unload 3,800 containers. Al Muraykh, a new generation of ultra-large container ships, is one of the largest in the world measuring 400 metres in length. The containers are loaded 11 storeys high above deck and 23 containers across the ship. With thousands more stowed below deck, the ship can carry up to 18,800 containers. The ship left Malaysia’s Port Klang carrying more shipping containers than any vessel on record and arrived at DP World London Gateway Port as its first port of call in Europe. Many of the goods being unloaded will be on the high streets of the UK in the coming days for the January sales.

UASC Streamlines Fuel Purchasing

United Arab Shipping Company (UASC), a global shipping company based in the Middle East, has implemented Shiptech, an end-to-end fuel management system developed by global cloud software company Inatech. Shiptech provides the company with an automated, cloud-based, fuel management system that transforms the way UASC buys bunker fuel. Using Shiptech’s procurement, contract management and advanced reporting applications, UASC plans fleet level bunkering for its vessels, tracks vessel performance and improves negotiations with suppliers.

DNV GL Presents AIP for ‘LNG Ready’ Mega Box Ships

Wednesday at the SMM trade fair in Hamburg, DNV GL presented Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) and United Arab Shipping Company (UASC) with an Approval in Principle (AIP), recognizing the technical feasibility of the LNG fuel system design for the A14 and A18 series of container vessels. Tor Svensen, CEO of DNV GL Maritime, made the presentation to Oi Hyun Kim, CEO and COO of HHI’s Shipbuilding Division, and Waleed Al Dawood, COO of United Arab Shipping Company, in the presence of His Excellency Sheikh Ali Bin Jassim Al Thani, UASC Board Member.

UASC Announces Expansion Plans

UASC announced two senior executive appointments to further position the company for its next phase of growth. The major transformation and investment program which is underway, calls for a new operating model to support the business. The appointments provide the depth and breadth to UASC’s Executive Management team to deliver on ambitious growth plans. “UASC is preparing for significant changes on the back of new capacity coming into service with a major program of new vessel acquisition,” said Jorn Hinge, UASC President and CEO.
