Kuryk Port Opens New Ferry Complex

Kuryk port, located in the Mangystau region of Kazakhstan, has opened its new ferry complex.Officials of relevant government agencies and representatives of private companies from Georgia, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Iran, China, Russia, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Azerbaijan attended the event with the participation of the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev.The Kuryk port is located on the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route and plays an exceptional role in increasing freight traffic in this direction. The launch of the new ferry complex will also create favorable conditions to a significant increase in the flow of cargo. This will contribute not only to the development of Kazakhstan, but the region as a whole.

Blue Water Strengthens portfolio in Lolland-Falster

In recent years, Blue Water Shipping's port activities have developed rapidly with activities in an increasing number of Danish port. Blue Water now extends its activities within shipbroking and port agency in the ports at Lolland-Falster. Port activities include shipbroking, chartering, stevedoring as well as terminal and warehouse services which are offered to all types of vessels and cargo. Blue Water will be represented with its own offices in the ports of Nakskov Roedby and Bandholm whereas the company's own people or local partners will be servicing for instance Orehoved and Nykoebing Falster. "With this new structure, Blue Water is able to offer the most nationwide port agency product in Denmark.

Statoil Awards Contracts in Norway

Statoil has today, 7 January, awarded the service contracts for seven bases for the company in Norway. These contracts have been awarded to NorSea Group AS, Saga Fjordbase AS and Asco Norge AS. The contracts awarded include terminal and warehouse services as well as storage and pipeline handling. “These contracts, which will involve a long-term cooperation with the chosen suppliers, will result in great savings for Statoil’s logistical operations. Logistics represent some 10% of our field costs and making base operations more efficient is essential for extending the lifetime of the fields we operate,” says Astrid Sørensen, SVP for operations in Statoil.

MarAd Vietnam Sign New Bilateral Maritime Agreement

U.S. maritime shippers, carriers and port operators will have far-reaching access to Vietnam’s rapidly expanding markets for transportation services, thanks to a new agreement signed today by U.S. Maritime Administrator Sean T. Connaughton and Vuong Dinh Lam, Vietnam’s national maritime administration chairman. Under the terms of the new agreement, U.S. companies may acquire a controlling 51 percent share in joint venture enterprises, such as partnering arrangements between U.S. and Vietnamese companies. The agreement also allows U.S. companies to take a lead role in providing a wide range of maritime services including cargo agency, cargo documentation, cargo management, ocean freight forwarding, storage and warehouse services, and container station and depot services.
