StormGeo Names Carsten Mortensen as Chairman

The weather forecasting services provider StormGeo AS has appointed Carsten Mortensen as new Non-executive Chairman to its Board of Directors.He brings more than 30 years of operational experience, having held leadership positions at global Nordic companies, such as A.P. Møller-Mærsk, D/S Norden and most recently as CEO of BW Group.Furthermore, Carsten Mortensen has been a strong advocate for the adoption of digital services and sustainable business practices through his Chairmanships of the Danish Shipowners Association and “Vækstteam”, an initiative to fuel growth in the maritime industry supported by the Danish Government.Rikke Kjær Nielsen, Partner at EQT Partners, comments, “We are proud to announce Carsten as StormGeo’s new Chairman.

RedPort XGate Now Includes PredictWind Weather Service

Newly available version of RedPort XGate satellite email and data services suite now includes PredictWind weather forecasting service, letting users select, download and view marine weather forecasts over satellite and cellular networks. RedPort Global announced the immediate availability of a new version of XGate, now including the PredictWind Offshore weather-forecasting app. XGate is an independent satellite data acceleration service letting people easily and affordably access accelerated email, web, weather data, social media and blogging wherever they go. PredictWind Offshore allows users to download and immediately view GRIB files, weather routes, GMDSS Text forecasts and Satellite Imagery.

BMT Reports Strong Full Year Performance

BMT Group Ltd (BMT), the international design, engineering and risk management consultancy, has announced another strong financial performance for the year to September 30, 2012. By focusing on markets where it can deliver high-value customer solutions, revenues from BMT’s continuing businesses rose 22% to £156m and underlying operating profits increased to £13.7m, a proportion of which has been distributed to the staff through the company’s profit share schemes. BMT Wins Caspian Sea Forecasting Contract

BMT ARGOSS (BMT), a subsidiary of BMT Group Ltd, has secured a long-term contract to provide an oil major with weather forecasting services for all its North Caspian Sea operations, both offshore and onshore. The scope of BMT’s work includes provision of all forecasting services including Metocean and aviation as well as all operational support, including maintenance of meteorological equipment on all of the installations. BMT’s working relationship with this oil major extends back to 2009, providing elements of the forecasting services package.

NKUA Selects Unique System FZE as Middle East Partner

Unique System FZE, a Unique Maritime Group Company, an integrated turnkey subsea and offshore solution provider, said it has been appointed as an authorized partner of NKUA for the Middle East region for Atmospheric Modeling and Weather Forecasting Group activities. The National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA) is the oldest (Established 1836) and biggest University of Greece. The Atmospheric Modeling and Weather Forecasting Group (AM&WFG) is part of Faculty of Physics and the Institute of Accelerating Systems and Applications (IASA) of NKUA.
