New Offshore Vessel Management Mobile App

Telerik says that its customer Bhagwan Marine, a leader in servicing the oil and gas industry, together with partner, Glenfield Digital Group, has released the first mobile app for offshore energy vessel management. 'LiveFleet'. Telerik explains that Bhagwan Marine wanted to be the first to leverage technology to promote its business in a bold way, setting it apart from industry-standard four-color printed brochures. The company decided to pursue a mobile app that would organize extensive vessel information and specifications, show vessel location in real-time, offer push notifications, pictures and more. Also the app would help manage Bhagwan Marine’s 700 person workforce, a critical need since 90 percent of staffers work remotely.

Global Offshore Wind Services Insights: New Strategic Review

The Danish Shipowners’ Association has released the strategic review it commissioned from Navigant Consulting in order to gain a comprehensive insight into the global offshore wind industry. The strategic review maps all active and prospective ships in the offshore wind industry; identifies and profiles all key players in the sector; provides detailed country- level offshore wind 10-year forecasts for all existing and potential offshore wind markets; and delivers a supply versus demand analysis across all major shipping activities which interact with the offshore wind industry.

Hamburg Süd Focuses on Sustainability

Hamburg 19 Mai 2011. A few days ago the Fraunhofer Working Group for Supply Chain Services SCS published the study “Sustainability Index for Logistics Service Providers”. The study analysed how transparently logistics service providers report on their activities in the area of sustainability and the measures they use to put the idea of sustainability into practice. Hamburg Süd received a thoroughly positive assessment on both counts. For one thing, the institute finds that the shipping group communicates the issue of sustainability “very transparently”…

Treon Named Marketing Communications Manager at Ashland

Julie Treon has been named manager, marketing communications in Ashland’s Corporate Affairs Department with responsibility for Ashland Specialty Chemical Company, effective June 2. The announcement was made by Martha Johnson, vice president, divisional communications, and director, corporate communications, Ashland Inc. Treon will be responsible for marketing communications planning and execution, including brand management and positioning, product publicity, advertising and collateral material, web content, tradeshows, media relations and related activities. She also will serve on the Ashland Specialty Chemical Leadership Team, which reports to Gary Cappeline, president, Ashland Specialty Chemical Company. “I am excited to welcome Julie to Ashland,” Cappeline said.
