ClassNK grants Innovation Endorsement for Products & Solutions to SEAHARMONY’s “SEAWALKER web platform”

ClassNK has granted its Innovation Endorsement for Products & Solutions to “SEAWALKER web platform”, the software solution for remote assistance and complex maintenance operations developed by SEAHARMONY LP.In July 2020, to promote the spread and development of innovative technologies, the Society launched Innovation Endorsement as a swift certification service in cooperation with technological front runners to establish appropriate evaluation criteria. Among the certification categories, "Products & Solutions" covers digital equipment and software technology installed for use on vessels.SEAWALKER web platform is a software solution for remote assistance and complex maintenance operations.

ChartWorld Updates MyRA Routing Service

ChartWorld announced the latest round of updates to its digital routing service, My Route Appraisal (MyRA). MyRA provides both vessels and onshore personnel with a proposed ECDIS-ready voyage plan. CMA CGM Launches eSolutions

Global shipping group CMA CGM has launched CMA CGM eSolutions, a digital system which enables its customers to manage the transport of their goods entirely via a digital interface.The digital eco-system comprising an online agency and other eCommerce channels such as Electronic Data Interchanges (EDI) and Application Programming Interfaces (API), which allow the digital transmission of relevant information and data between CMA CGM and its customers, it said in a press release.A large majority of the CMA CGM Group’s bookings are made via its eCommerce solutions, among which half are made through the Group’s web platform, it said.With CMA CGM eSolutions…

A2B-online Container Ships Use Biofuels, Big Data to Cut CO2

A2B-online Container, GoodFuels Marine and We4Sea launch a collaboration project with the aim to reduce fossil fuel consumption and CO2-emissions for two A2B-online ships. Big Data technology is used to map the possibilities for more efficient shipping operations. The cost efficiencies achieved by reduced levels of fuel consumption will subsequently be used to deploy advanced, sustainable biofuels, by which the CO2-emissions will further decrease. A2B-online Container B.V. offers reliable short-sea services from the port of Moerdijk to several ports in the UK. This collaboration project is in line with A2B-online’s ambition to further improve the emission performance of her ships.

Shipping Internet: Where Next?

The shipping dot.com epidemic will not be remembered for its abundance of straight talk. However, one unusually candid comment from a fraught CEO has stuck. If insiders have only a vague notion of what was actually achieved with their Internet millions, outsiders can be forgiven a little head scratching. Without a considerable shift in emphasis, it is difficult to see any of the class of 2000 taking early retirement. Taken in the context of the evolution of the Internet in shipping, however, the experience was certainly not wasted. We like to think of last year as 'Shipping Internet Version 1.0', of the - build it, and they will come - school of thought.
