Weatherford Rolls Out ForeSite Optimization Platform

Irish-domiciled multinational oilfield services company Weatherford said it has made a major enhancement to its ForeSite production optimization platform, which combines physics-based models with advanced data analytics to improve performance across wells, reservoirs, and surface facilities on a single, secure platform.Weatherford, which first introduced the ForeSite platform in May 2017, said the new release expands predictive failure analytics to electric submersible pumping systems (ESPs) and adds complete optimization capabilities for plunger-lifted wells.The platform expands capabilities in reciprocating rod lift by adding predictive failure analytics for ESP systems.

Hurricane Energy Buoyed by Post-well Analysis Results

Hurricane Energy plc, the UK-based oil and gas company, announced having substantially completed post-well data analysis following the successful testing of the 1km horizontal appraisal well 205/21a-6 in Q2 2014 at the Company's Lancaster oil discovery West of Shetland. The well was optimally located to benefit from a highly connected fault/fracture network and an underlying 300m oil column (Hurricane's - 2C estimate of field ODT). The results from third party analysis combine to demonstrate a very good quality reservoir which could deliver single well rates of 20,000 STB/d - significantly ahead of initial expectations of well productivity.

Aker Solutions Update on Company Hive-Off

Aker Solutions informs updated unaudited financial information for the two companies - the new Aker Solutions and Akastor - that will be formed following the split of the business at the end of September. Previous pro forma financial information was disclosed in the information memorandum of July 11, 2014, and the second-quarter 2014 results published July 17 this year. The updated financial information reflects a decision in August by the board of directors to transfer the Aker Geo AS business unit to Akastor instead of keeping it within the new Aker Solutions as previously announced. The figures have also been revised because of continued work to reflect the financial performance of the two new companies as accurately as possible.

Polar Petroleum Appoints ARCO Alaska Veteran

Polar Petroleum Corp. appointed Mr. Donald W. Brizzolara to the Company's Advisory Board as Chief Geological Advisor. Mr. Brizzolara represents 25 years of experience in oil and gas exploration and development, geology and consulting experience for firms such as ConocoPhillips and Shell. Of particular importance to the Company, Mr. Brizzolara's background includes work on the Prudhoe and Kuparuk fields, which, together constitute the majority of the oil production on the North Slope (51% and 20%, respectively). Polar Petroleum's Hemi Springs Project is spread along the southwestern border of the Prudhoe Bay Unit, and lies to the southeast of the Kuparuk River Unit. Donald W.

International oilfield services company, Reservoir Group, has announced the acquisition of Mudlogging Services Inc (MSI), the US-based developer and supplier of the MLogger series of gas detection systems. Founded in 2001, MSI is headquartered in Grand Junction, Colorado. From this base, the company leases its specialised systems and software to a number of major operators and independent oil and gas companies across the US and worldwide, including Mexico, Africa and Eastern Europe.

Tech Testifies Activities on BP Rig Disturbed Him

According to a report from NPR, a technician responsible for monitoring gas levels told federal investigators on Dec. 7 that he never considered using his authority to stop work on the Deepwater Horizon rig even though mud-moving activities in the hours before the blast made him uncomfortable. Joseph Keith, who works for a unit of Halliburton, told the joint U.S. Coast Guard-Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, Regulation and Enforcement panel that the BP wellsite leader and mud engineers onboard would have been in a better position to assess whether work should have stopped. Schlumberger Launches Second Deepwater Stimulation Vessel

Schlumberger has affirmed its commitment to the deepwater market with launch of the DeepSTIM II - the second in a new line of advanced stimulation vessels for deepwater service. The new vessel surpasses the size of the first DeepSTIM by 10 ft., making it the largest stimulation vessel operating in the Gulf of Mexico. The new-generation DeepSTIM design integrates Schlumberger expertise in marine, mechanical, electronic and chemical engineering, and DeepSTIM II incorporates design improvements made after the first vessel was launched in 1999. Measuring 270 x 56 ft., the vessel's large capacity provides reliability in severe weather and allows the vessel to remain at sea for long periods.
