C&C Delivers New Towboat to Parker Towing

C&C Marine and Repair has delivered the new towboat Olive Parker to Parker Towing Company. The vessel is the first the Belle Chasse, La. shipbuilder has built for the Tuscaloosa, Ala. based company.The 4,400-horsepower towboat measures 147.5’ x 34’ x 10’-9” with the pilot house eyeline measuring at 33’. The Olive Parker was constructed based on a collaborative design by Parker Towing Company and CT Marine, LLC, based in Portland, Maine. C&C Delivers New Towboat to Maritime Partners

Belle Chasse, La. shipyard C&C Marine and Repair, LLC said it has delivered Ned Brooks, the fourth in series of 15 towboats for Metairie, La.-based Maritime Partners, LLC.The 2,600-horsepowered, 84- by 34-foot towboat was designed by Entech Design, LLC, based in Kenner, La., with the 3D modeling and production drawings done by C&C Marine and Repair’s in-house engineering department. The design includes two Cummins QSK38-M1 main engines, provided by Cummins Mid-South, that are paired to two Reintjes WAF 665 reduction gears, provided by Karl Senner, LLC.

“The Daisy Mae is the closest you can get to Z-drive maneuverability, without the cost of Z-drive,” maintains her builder Joseph Rodriguez of Rodriguez Ship Building Inc. in Bayou LaBatre, Ala. Rodriguez has designed and built a lot of tugs over the years and doesn’t make this claim lightly. Further more he backs it up with his description of the beamy 82 by 32-foot tug that his yard delivered to Coeymans Marine Towing. This is one of the Carver group companies based at the Port of Coeymans 110 miles up the Columbia River from New York.

New ATB Builds for Island Tug & Barge

Over the years Vancouver, BC based Island Tug and Barge (ITB) has refurbished and repowered older vessels and completed new vessels. The company is currently working on its most ambitious and innovative project to date. In its Annacis Island Shipyard, located undercover in a pair of huge leased warehouses on the Fraser River, ITB is building two tugs that will be paired with two of its existing barges. The two boats are built with pins for use in an articulated tug and barge application.

Petra Joins Owner’s Galaxy

The Petra Galaxy, designed by Conan Wu and Asscoiates, is the latest vessel to join the fleet of Perdana Venus Ltd. of the Marshall Islands. The 75-by-20m maintenance/work vessel has approximately 700 sq. m. of open deck space with an intended capacity of five tons per sq. m. for a total deadweight of 3475.56 tons, of which 400 tons could be deck cargo with the vessel drawing 5.2 meters of draft. Classed by ABS as a + A1 +AMS Offshore Vessel, the Petra Galaxy includes air-conditioned accommodation for up 189 people as well as a hospital, conference room, recreation room and five offices.

Petra Galaxy Joins Perdana Venus Fleet

The Petra Galaxy, designed by Conan Wu and Associates, is the latest vessel to join the fleet of Perdana Venus Ltd. of the Marshall Islands. The 246 ft by 65.5 ft maintenance/work vessel has approximately 7,535 sq ft of open deck space and a total deadweight of 3,475.5 tonnes of which 400 tons could be deck cargo with the vessel drawing 17 ft of draft. Classed by ABS as a + A1 +AMS Offshore Vessel the Petra Galaxy includes air-conditioned accommodation for up 189 people as well as a hospital, conference room, recreation room and five offices.

Lockport Launches Tug for LA Carriers

Lockport Fabrication has splashed another of their classic gulf-style tugs into the Bayou this month. The 82 by 29-foot model bow tug joins LA Carriers, LLC of Cut Off, Louisiana. The new vessel joins the Bayou LaFourche-based firm founded by Mr. Russell Plaisance in 1986. The firm has achieved success towing general cargos as well as serving the oil industry. New Handysize Tug Completes Seatrials

Great Lakes Shipyard has successfully completed seatrials of the “HANDY-ONE”, the first tug of the new HANDYSIZE Class to be delivered to TUGZ International, LLC, the well-known and successful owner and charterer of a fleet of Z-Class tractor tugs. Both the new HANDYSIZE Class and the Z-Class tugs were designed for Tugz by Jensen Maritime Consultants, Seattle. The sea trials, including speed and endurance trials were performed in the icy waters of Lake Eire under freezing winter conditions.

Breaux’s Bay Builds on Tradition

This coming September, Offshore Oil Services of Freeport Texas will add the eighth boat to their distinctively white-hulled fleet of crew boats when they take deliver of a new vessel from Breaux’s Bay Craft of Loreauville, Louisiana. With four generations involved in the maritime economies of Freeport the Muchowich family has named this latest addition to their fleet, the Anna M, for the wife of Capt. Carl Muchowich who first invested in a shrimp business there in the early 1930s. At 145 ft. over-all the Anna M has a 28-foot beam and 12-ft. molded depth. This will provide for 12,000 of fuel, 24,500 gallons of rig water, 800 gallons of potable water and 250 gallons each for lube and waste oil. The 84x23-ft. open aft deck will take up to 200 tons of cargo.
