Ocean Wilsons Says Reviewing Investment in Brazil's Wilson Sons

Brazilian shipping company Wilson Sons' controlling shareholder said on Monday it is conducting a strategic review of its investment in the firm, sending shares in both companies soaring 12%.London-listed Ocean Wilsons said in a statement that "all potential strategic options" would be considered as part of the review, but noted the move was at an early stage and there was still no certainty as to its outcome.It was responding to a Sunday piece by Brazilian newspaper O Globo saying that Swiss shipping group MSC was in talks to buy Wilson Sons, in a deal that could total around 5 billion reais

Wilson Sons Building Four NOx-slashing Tugs

Brazil's largest integrated port and maritime logistics operator Wilson Sons said it is building four tugs that will reduce nitrogen oxides (NOx) emissions by more than 75%.The IMO Tier III vessels were developed by Damen Shipyards Group and are being built at Wilson Sons' shipyard in Guarujá. The total cost to implement IMO Tier III standards is US$290,000."Nitrogen oxide is a greenhouse gas, which can be 300 times more polluting than carbon dioxide itself. 'Unprecedented' Ship-to-ship LNG Transfer Off Brazil

Wilson Sons, through its Towage unit, participated in the first ship-to-ship offshore operation for the transfer of liquefied natural gas (LNG) through a ULGC (Ultra Large Gas Carrier) vessel of Q-FLEX type in Brazil. The ship is considered one of the largest gas carriers in the world with a capacity of 215,000 cubic meters.This unprecedented operation took place at the Celse’s terminal, in Barra dos Coqueiros (SE), and aimed to supply the Porto de Sergipe Thermoelectric Power Plant (UTE), operated by the company.

Brazilian maritime logistics and port operator Wilson Sons has accepted the resignation of Cezar Baião from the position of CEO of Operations in Brazil, effective from March 5, 2021. The company has this week said that its board has accepted the nomination and decided to appoint Fernando Fleury Salek as CEO of Operations in Brazil.Salek has acted as CFO of the company's Brazilian subsidiaries and Head of Investors Relations for the past five years. Camera Systems Installed Across Wilson Sons' Tug Fleet

Brasco, APM Terminal Pact for Offshore Support

SAAM Towage Contracts Damen for Tug Vessel

In August 2019 Damen Shipyards Group signed a contract with SAAM Towage for the delivery of an ASD Tug 2813 to SAAM Mexico for operations in the port of Veracruz. This order is the latest milestone in a business relationship spanning several decades and involving numerous vessels.Due to an existing relationship built on previous shared success, SAAM Towage approached Damen sales manager Ezequiel Najmias with a possible order. Ezequiel used the opportunity to invite SAAM Towage representatives to visit the Damen Song Cam Shipyard in Vietnam.

Wilson Sons Vessel Converted in Brazil

A platform supply vessel (PSV) owned and operated by Wilson Sons UltraTug Offshore has been converted to a shallow dive support vessel (SDSV) for a Petrobras job offshore Brazil.The vessel, Fulmar, needed an upgrade from DP1 to DP2 Class notation, and the work was completed in April by Wilson Sons Estaleiros in partnership with Damen at the Wilson Sons shipyards in Guarujá.Damen said it carried out quick scan and later a feasibility study for the project before Wilson Sons had been awarded the contract.Daniel Pereira, Maintenance Manager said, “The project was not without its challenges.

On December 13th, Brazilian company WEG Electric Equipment, and Dutch company Praxis Automation Technology, both leading companies within their respective fields, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to support the bid of Damen Shipyards Group and Saab for the construction of four corvettes for the Brazilian Navy. Wilson Sons Delivers Tug to SAAM SMIT in Brazil

Wilson Sons Estaleiros has delivered the third Damen designed ASD Tug 2411 to SAAM SMIT Towage in Brazil. The vessel is part of a four-vessel order, the final unit of which the shipyard is on track to deliver according to schedule in November this year.Damen has partnered with Wilson Sons for over 20 years. Under the arrangement of the relationship, Wilson Sons builds vessels using a Damen design, engineering and materials package. The delivery later this year of the final vessel of the SAAM SMIT order will mark the 91st Damen-designed vessel built by Wilson Sons.

Wilson Sons Delivers Tug SST-Aruá

Wilson Sons shipyard, part of the WilsonSons Group, has delivered yet another tugboat. The SST-Aruá is the second tugboat delivered to SAAM SMIT Towage Brazil and is part of a total order of four vessels. The first of the series the SST-Aimoré was delivered in June this year. "It took just over 18 months to deliver the second tugboat from the moment of signing the contract. In a challenging time for the shipbuilding industry, WilsonSons shipyard could again show their strength and resilience," said Adalberto Souza, director of Wilson Sons shipyard. The SST-Aruá was built in Guarujá (SP).

Fugro Continues IMR Work for Petrobras

Fugro said it has been awarded a further two-year contract by Petrobras to provide inspection, repair and maintenance (IRM) and pipeline inspection services in Brazil. Operations commenced in May 2017. The new award follows Fugro’s completion of an initial 12-month contract for the oil major, after taking delivery of the newbuild vessel Fugro Aquarius. Built specifically for the Brazilian market by Wilson Sons shipyard in São Paulo, with local content of more than 60 percent, Fugro Aquarius is an 83-meter, DP-2 ROV support vessel.

Wilson Sons to Build Tugs for Saam Smit

Wilson Sons Limited announces to its shareholders that the shipyard subsidiary Wilson Sons Estaleiros Ltda, has signed a contract to construct two azimuth tugboats for Saam Smit Towage do Brasil S.A. (Saam Smit), to be delivered within twenty months of payment of the first installment of each vessel. The vessels have a length of 24 meters and a beam of 11 meters with bollard pull of 70 metric tons. Damen Gorinchem Shipyards, who designed the projects, have been working with Wilson Sons in Brazil for more than 20 years.

Damen PSV for Wilson Sons Ultratug Offshore

Wilson Sons Ultratug Offshore, a joint venture between Wilson Sons and the Chilean maritime services provider Ultramar, has taken delivery of a Damen PSV 5000. The vessel was built at Wilson Sons shipyard in Guaruja,Brazil. The delivery is the first of a two-vessel contract, with the second vessel due for completion later in 2016. “For this vessel, and the one still under construction, we provided the full engineering package in addition to certain key materials,” says Damen Sales Manager Americas Rutger Dolk. At 85.25 metres long, with a 19-metre beam, this Damen PSV 5000 is to be known as Larus. Allowing for optimal use of the 920m2 deck area, the vessel is equipped with a travelling gantry crane along the work deck to allow optimal storage and movement of deck cargo.

CSN Receives 10 Offers for Brazil Box Terminal

Brazilian steelmaker Cia Siderúrgica Nacional has received 10 offers for its Sepetiba Tecon container terminal in Rio de Janeiro's Itaguai port, newspaper Valor Economico reported on Friday. Singapore's PSA International, Chile's SAAM, Wilson Sons and LOGZ, among others, have made non-binding offers, Valor reported without citing its sources. The terminal is valued at 1.2 billion reais ($296 million) to 1.5 billion reais, it said. CSN did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Reporting by Caroline Stauffer

Fugro Acquires ROV Support Vessel

Fugro has taken delivery of the new ROV support vessel (RSV) Fugro Aquarius, the most advanced vessel of her type built in Brazil. The new DP-2 diesel-electric vessel is 83 metres is length with a deck area of 520 square metres and accommodation for 60 people. Permanently equipped with two Fugro-built 150HP work class ROVs, Fugro Aquarius is capable of operating in water depths of 3,000 metres. The stern A‐Frame, with active heave compensated winch system, allows for deployment of 10 tonnes and the helideck is suitable for medium-lift helicopters such as the Sikorsky S‐92.
