Wood Group Develops Advanced Analytics Capability with CeADA

Wood Group today announced that it is collaborating with the Centre for Applied Data Analytics (CeADAR), located at University College Dublin (UCD), to launch a new data analytics capability to deliver significant savings for the energy and industrial sectors. Wood Group Kenny (WGK) will work with CeADAR to develop predictive analytics for deployment particularly in the oil and gas industry. This will initially be targeted at brownfield engineering services and will strengthen WGK's existing services in the area of measured data analysis. By tracking the integrity of system components, the service already delivers significant savings to clients through problem detection and optimization, leading to reduced inspection, intervention and maintenance costs.

Wood Group Extends North Sea Chevron Contract

Wood Group has secured an extension to continue to support Chevron Upstream Europe across four offshore assets in the North Sea. Wood Group PSN (WGPSN) will deliver operations and maintenance services to the Alba Northern platform, Alba floating storage unit, Captain floating production, storage and offloading vessel and Captain wellhead protector platform, under the one year contract that extends an agreement in place since 2010. Effective immediately, the contract retains more than 30 jobs and adds to Wood Group's support of Chevron in the UKCS; Wood Group Kenny recently performed the subsea engineering of the trees, wellheads, controls and polymer injection flowlines to the subsea injection wells for Chevron's Captain Enhanced Oil Recovery Project.

Wood Group Wins PetroRio's Brazil Contract

Wood Group has been awarded a new contract by PetroRio to deliver services to the Polvo A platform, in the southern Campos basin, approximately 100 kilometres off the coast of Rio de Janeiro. Integrated operations and maintenance services will be provided by Wood Group PSN under the two year contract, which is effective immediately. The contract builds on Wood Group’s experience supporting the Polvo field, which consists of a fixed production and drilling platform connected to a floating production, storage and offloading vessel (FPSO). Wood Group Kenny has held two contracts to provide integrity management support to the field, the most recent of which completed in early 2015.

Wood Group Wins Browse FEED Contract

Wood Group has secured its second front-end engineering design (FEED) contract for the proposed Browse floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) Development offshore Western Australia. Under the new contract with Woodside, effective immediately, Wood Group Kenny (WGK) will progress the configuration design of the flexible risers and umbilicals for the asset’s offshore gas-condensate fields - Brecknock, Calliance and Torosa. Three Specialists join Wood Group

Wood Group has appointed three senior engineering specialists who will lead a new team of up to 20 people in the UK to further build Wood Group’s capability in vibration, dynamics and noise. This follows the acquisition of BETA Machinery Analysis, a Calgary-based engineering consultancy specializing in advanced vibration analysis, and will include the opening of a Southampton office in January 2016. Mark Hutchinson will become operations manager of Wood Group’s UK vibration team, Jonathon Baker joins as sales and business development manager and Rob Swindell will take on the role of R&D and technical authority. These appointments bolster Wood Group’s integrity management capability by adding subsea vibration and fatigue experience to its onshore expertise.

OSRCL Inks Maintanence Deal with Wood Group

Wood Group Kenny (WGK) has secured a five year contract with Oil Spill Response (Capping) Ltd (OSRCL) to provide the maintenance support for a key part of a containment toolkit that would be used to control hydrocarbon release in the event of a subsea well control incident. The multi-million dollar project will see WGK work with OSRCL to ensure that the flexible flowlines included in the toolkit are continuously in a condition suitable for immediate load out if mobilised by subscribing oil and gas operators. This will include maintenance management, recommendations for preservation, inspection and testing of all ancillary and lifting equipment, as well as the flexible flowlines, stored at sites in the UK, Singapore and Brazil.

Kemp Succeeds Semple at Wood Group

Wood Group announced following changes to its senior management team. Alan Semple, chief financial officer (CFO) has advised the board that he intends to retire and step down from his current role and from the board at the company’s annual general meeting in May 2015, at which time he will have held senior financial roles with Wood Group for over 19 years. Alan has been CFO and a member of the board since 2000. David Kemp, CFO of Wood Group PSN will succeed Alan and will join the board as an executive director following the 2015 annual general meeting. To ensure effective management of this change, David will assume the role of deputy CFO from 1 January 2015.

Wood Group Kenny Wins 2 Contracts from Petrobras

Wood Group Kenny (WGK) has won two contracts with a total value of over $2 million with Brazilian operator Petrobras. In the first, WGK has begun a conceptual engineering study of two alternatives of pipeline heating systems for the Petrobras pre-salt Lapa field, water-heated pipe-in-pipe (WH-PiP) and electrically trace-heated pipe-in-pipe (ETH-PiP). The project aims to provide Petrobras and its partners, BG and Repsol Sinopec, with the basis to evaluate the technical feasibility of the south west area tieback on the field and determining the most cost-effective technology. The application of active heating pipeline technology would be a first in a pre-salt environment.

Wood Group Kenny Wins Ghana Contract for Subsea Engineering

Wood Group Kenny (WGK) has been awarded an engineering services contract to support Tullow Ghana Limited and its partners through the execution phase of the Tweneboa, Enyenra and Ntomme (TEN) project, offshore Ghana. WGK will provide subsea, umbilical, risers, flowlines (SURF) engineering services. The Tweneboa, Enyenra and Ntomme oil fields are situated in the Deepwater Tano area, offshore Ghana, approximately 30 kilometres from the existing Jubilee field. The organizers of the Oil & Gas Exhibition & Conference (AOG) say that the demand for labour is so high that by 2018 the oil and gas workforce is expected to increase by 57 percent, according to the Australian Workforce and Productivity Agency. On 21, February 2014 over 1000 graduates and tertiary students meet with major employers at Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre  to learn about job opportunities, graduate programs and vacation work available in the oil and gas sector.

Australian Wind & Wave Energy Platform a World First

The triangular shaped Energy Island will comprise six oscillating water column (OWC) wave energy devices and an offshore wind turbine assembly and will be capable of generating up to 10 megawatts of power. It is envisaged that six or more Energy Islands may be linked together to create an Energy Farm, which is estimated could supply power to 16,500 Australian households per year. Wood Group Kenny's initial eight-month scope of work under the contract will be carried out in two parts. The first part will involve a data gathering exercise covering a wide range of environmental and technical issues, and the second part will involve conceptual study work to define the layout and configuration of the overall Energy Island assembly.
