McDermott Names Flagship Pipelayer in Singapore

McDermott International, Inc. formally named its flagship Derrick Lay Vessel 2000 (DLV 2000) during a ceremony at the Keppel Singmarine Shipyard in Singapore. Brenda Cuthbertson, wife of 38-year McDermott employee and Asia Area Vice President Hugh Cuthbertson, served as the vessel’s godmother and named the DLV 2000 with the traditional breaking of champagne during the ceremony. The ceremony was attended by invited guests, McDermott and Keppel executives and employees and was followed by guided tours and lunch on the vessel.

Technip Awarded Contract for Enfield Development

Technip has been awarded by Woodside Energy Limited a contract for the Enfield development. This field is located offshore Australia at a water depth of 550m. The contract includes: the recovery of an existing spool, the engineering, procurement, fabrication and installation of a new spool intended to enhance the field production, with its installation cradle and an associated umbilical. Project execution will be supported by Technip Subsea 7 Asia Pacific (TS7), the joint venture between Technip and Subsea 7 for subsea offshore operations in the Asia Pacific region. The project team will be based in Perth (Australia). Offshore installation will be carried out by the Rockwater 2, one of TS7’s construction vessels.

Aker Kvaerner and Clough Win Woodside Contract

Australia-based Woodside Energy Limited awarded the Aker Kvaerner-Clough Limited joint venture a contract for the installation of topsides for the Angel platform. The contract value is approximately $33 million; Aker Kvaerner's share is approximately $16.5 million. The Joint Venture will perform all installation engineering and construction activities related to transportation and installation of the Angel topside module, weighing approximately 7,000 tons. The Angel field is located on the North West Shelf of Western Australia approximately 49 km east of Woodside's North Rankin Platform. The project will commence immediately and work towards final investment decision in January 2006. Given project sanction, the topside installation is planned for late 2007 / early 2008.
