Maran Gas Extends Maintenance Deal with Wärtsilä

Wärtsilä announce it has signed a renewal of its Optimized Maintenance Agreement with the Greek shipping company Maran Gas Maritime, part of Angelicoussis Shipping Group (ASGL). The new agreement will run for five additional years, and is designed to ensure operational certainty with controlled and predictable costs for Maran Gas’s fleet of 21 TFDE LNG carrier vessels. The signing took place on May 3, 2022.The Maran Gas vessels are all powered by Wärtsilä 50DF dual-fuel engines.

Wärtsilä to Maximize Engine Uptime, Reduce Emissions on Two MMS LNG Carriers

Finland-based marine engine and technology specialist Wärtsilä has signed agreements with the Japanese shipping group MMS to optimize maintenance and emissions for two MMS LNG carriers and maximize engine uptime.Wärtsilä said the agreements were designed to deliver maximized engine uptime and long-term cost predictability, optimizing maintenance for the highest efficiency, and lowest carbon footprint.The project includes Wärtsilä’s digital predictive maintenance solution, Expert Insight.

Japanese LNG Carriers Pact with Wärtsilä

Finnish technology group Wärtsilä has signed long-term service agreements for four Japanese-owned LNG carriers.Wärtsilä’s Dynamic Maintenance Planning (DMP) proposition with performance guarantees is recognised as adding considerable value to the customers’ operations.Two of the vessels are owned by a joint venture between Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL) and JERA Co., Inc. (JERA), the Tokyo based energy company, while the other two are owned by a joint-venture between Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha (NYK) and JERA. Wärtsilä Inks Distributor Deal with Heinzman

Wärtsilä Canada Inc. has signed an agreement with Heinzmann GmbH & Co. KG to become Heinzmann’s  Authorized Central Distributor in Canada. Aligned with Wärtsilä’s QuantiServ business, the agreement provides Heinzmann’s Canadian customers in the marine and energy industry an opportunity to repair, replace and upgrade their existing control and monitoring systems through Wärtsilä Canada. Wärtsilä and Maran Gas Maritime (MGM) extend their current cooperation with a five-year maintenance agreement covering the maintenance of MGM's 21 TFDE (tri-fuel diesel electric) LNG carriers that are equipped with Wärtsilä 50DF engines. Maran Gas Maritime Inc. is the LNG shipping unit of the Angelicoussis Shipping Group and one of the major players in the worldwide LNG transportation. The group company operates a fleet of approximately 130 merchant vessels globally with 33 of these being LNG vessels - 21 of which are TFDE.

Wärtsilä, MOL Sign maintenance Deal for Two LNG Carriers

Wärtsilä has signed a ten-year maintenance agreement with MOL LNG Transport Europe Ltd., an affiliate of the Japanese MOL Group. The agreement, which covers two LNG carriers, increases the predictability of the vessels' operations, enhances safety and reduces operational costs. The comprehensive service agreement includes all scheduled engine maintenance activities, workshop services and online remote support. With Wärtsilä's Condition Based Maintenance (CBM) solution, maintenance activities for the two vessels' engines can be planned based on actual engine condition rather than following a strict calendar-based schedule. The CBM solution controls and extends the engine maintenance intervals, reducing operational costs and downtime.

Abu Dhabi Ports Marine Subsidiary Rebranded as SAFEEN

Abu Dhabi Ports, the master developer, operator and manager of ports and Khalifa Industrial Zone (Kizad) in the Emirate, has renamed its subsidiary, Abu Dhabi Marine Services, as ‘SAFEEN’ –meaning ships in Arabic- in a bid to rebrand itself. The announcement was followed closely by the brand winning the prestigious International Safety Management (ISM) certification from the International Maritime Organization (IMO). Further, as part of expanding its fleet and improving services, SAFEEN  has added a new tug boat named ‘MAQTAA’ to its existing fleet of five tugs, five pilot boats, six  speed boats, one buoy maintenance boat and two oil spill response boats. The company plans to acquire three more tug boats by the end of 2016.

Wärtsilä to Optimize GasLog's LNG Carriers

Wärtsilä informs it has signed a maintenance agreement with the GasLog LNG Services Limited that aims to ensure the reliability of operation of GasLog's seven LNG carriers, each having a cargo capacity of 155,000 cbm. According to Wärtsilä, the demand for predictive analytics and advisory services is increasing. By analyzing the data collected from GasLog's vessels, Wärtsilä said it is able to provide valuable information regarding the condition of the equipment, which enables GasLog to optimize maintenance and asset performance.

The agreement, which became effective from March 1, is for maintaining and servicing the recently launched 'Viking Grace', the largest passenger ferry ever to operate on liquefied natural gas (LNG) fuel. Wärtsilä Canada Open New Repair Shop

The workshop in Victoria is fully equipped to perform overhauls and repairs on engines as well as propulsion equipment. The premises situated at 1759 Sean Heights in Saanichton covers 500 square metres and has been built according to latest workshop standards with two 10-tonne cranes. Wärtsilä Canada now operates in Vancouver (Richmond), Victoria, Montreal, Halifax (Dartmouth) and St. John's with Vancouver being the head office and centre of excellence for reconditioning services for the America's region. Each location is capable of handling all Wärtsilä OEM engine workshop services as well as engine repairs and overhaul services for other manafucturers' equipment including MAN, B&W and Pielstick.

The broad scope of services covers technical management and logistics support, spare parts for scheduled engine maintenance, workshop services, an on-board technical advisor during major overhauls, annual training of the engine room crew, continuous condition monitoring of equipment and reporting, and bi-monthly technical visits to each vessel. "This agreement optimises the maintenance schedules for these seven vessels, and provides the customer with technical expertise at a fixed budget price.

Wartsila Opens New Facility in Helsinki

Wärtsilä has opened new workshop facilities in Helsinki, Finland. The new facilities enable Wärtsilä to offer a wide range of workshop services with rapid response times. Operations in Helsinki began in early August 2011. "The new workshop is strategically located near the main shipping routes and this, together with its efficient storage arrangements, will significantly enhance our service capacity. For customers with maintenance agreements, the added component storage will reduce transportation and travel costs, and ensure prompt response times for vessels operating in the Baltic area," says Christoph Vitzthum, Group Vice President, Wärtsilä Services.

Wärtsilä Signs Support Agreement with Royal Caribbean

Wärtsilä has signed a five year maintenance support agreement with Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. It is a joint co-operation between Wärtsilä and Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. and its operating companies Royal Caribbean International, Celebrity Cruises, and Azamara Club Cruises. GE Oil & Gas Awarded Statoilhydro Contract

GE Oil & Gas announced that it has been awarded a five-year contract to deliver Subsea Operations Services (SOS) to StatoilHydro, the Norwegian based oil and gas company. The contract has an estimated value of between $25- $30m per year and will be managed by GE Oil & Gas in Dusavik, Stavanger, Norway.
