Woodside, Trafigura Load First Carbon Offset Condensate Cargo at Pluto LNG

Australian oil and gas firm Woodside and its Pluto LNG joint venture partners have delivered their first cargo of carbon offset condensate to commodity trading company Trafigura.The cargo was loaded at Pluto LNG plant in Western Australia, which processes gas from the offshore Pluto and Xena gas fields.The carbon dioxide equivalent emissions associated with extraction, storage and shipping of the 650,000- barrel cargo will be offset through a combination of efficiency measures, which reduce emissions, and surrender of high-quality carbon offsets, Woodside said.

Woodside Expands LNG Supply

Australian exploration and production company Woodside has opened a liquefied natural gas (LNG) truck loading facility at its Pluto LNG project in Western Australia (WA), as it looks to develop the domestic LNG market for remote power generation and transport fuels.The Pluto LNG project is located 190km north-west of Karratha in WA, in the Northern Carnarvon Basin. It processes LNG from the Pluto and Xena gas fields, which have total dry gas recoverable reserve volumes of 4.4 trillion cubic feet (tcf) and 0.6tcf respectively.Following the completion of commissioning activities, the facility will initially be able to deliver seven LNG truck loadings per day…

Ship Suppliers Launch Victualling Software

Wrist Ship Supply launch 'Xena', to streamline the purchasing of consumable ship supplies, optimising vessel economy & improving health at sea. The Xena software is a menu-planning tool and electronic cookbook which provides ship owners with inventory control, reducing waste and enabling transparency to ensure they stay within nutritional guidelines. Recipes in this programme also provide cost per meal information and reconcile this against existing food stock. Xena enables ordering, stock and menu planning that takes into account regulation around seafarer catering, stipulated in the Maritime Labour Convention (MLC) 2006. MLC 2006 has been ratified by 29 countries to date, and is expected to enter into force in 2013.

Arctic Shield 2012: USCG Mounts Historic Arctic Effort

While it seems that half the world is monitoring the oil and gas exploration activities of Royal Dutch Shell (Shell Oil) on the United States outer continental shelf (OCS) in waters of the Chukchi and Beaufort Seas off the north coast of Alaska, another historic event is occurring in those same waters: Arctic Shield 2012. The US Coast Guard is assembling its largest ever effort in the Arctic during the period July through October 2012. The Coast Guard has been gradually expanding its presence in the Arctic over the past four years.
