Eighth 24,188 TEU Ship Joins OOCL's Fleet

Hong Kong based ocean carrier Orient Overseas Container Line Ltd. (OOCL) announced it has taken delivery of its eighth 24,188 TEU containership, OOCL Abu Dhabi.The vessel is the fourth in a series of six 24,188 TEU newbuilds to be delivered to OOCL by the Dalian COSCO KHI Ship Engineering Co., Ltd. (DACKS) shipyard in China. The ultra large containership is 400 meters long and 61.3 meters wide.OOCL Abu Dhabi was officially named during a ceremony at the shipyard on February 25.

China’s new low-sulphur fuel oil (LSFO) futures contract made strong gains in its debut trade on Monday, rising as much as 16.7% on the Shanghai International Energy Exchange (INE).The front-month January contract, with a listing price of 2,368 yuan per tonne, later pared gains to close 9.8% higher at 2,599 yuan ($367.35) per tonne at the close of afternoon trade.The contract saw open interest of 24,859 lots and trading volumes of 130,439 lots.The launch of the contract with sulphur content lower than 0.5% comes after an International Maritime Organization (IMO) ruling which bans ships from us

Jiangsu Zhenjiang Delivers Dual Fuel Tug

Jiangsu Zhenjiang Shipyard in China has delivered Yong Gang Xiao Tuo 60, a dual fuel RAstar 3800-DF tug, to Ningbo Zhoushan Port Company Ltd.According to a release from the naval architectural firm Robert Allan, this first ever RAstar 3800-DF tug is the 10th custom designed vessel by Robert Allan Ltd. in close collaboration with Ningbo Port Company. The vessel is also the first Robert Allan Ltd. designed dual-fuel tug to operate in China.The new RAstar 3800-DF tug is powered by a pair of Niigata 8L28AHX-DF dual-fuel engines, each rated for 2,389 kW at 800 rpm, and driving Kongsberg US 255 CP 2.8 meter diameter controllable pitch Z-drives. Bollard pull recorded on trials met all expectations and is certified as 80.3 tonnes ahead.

G42, ADNOC JV for AI in Oil and Gas

Cosco Shipping Buys 60% Stake Peru's Chancay Terminal

LNG Import: China is World's No. 2 buyer in 2018

China's imports of liquefied natural gas (LNG) in December soared 25 percent from the same period a year earlier to a monthly record of 6.29 million tonnes, customs data showed on Wednesday.The previous record of 5.99 million tonnes was set in November.For the whole of 2018, imports grew 41 percent from 2017 to a record 53.78 million tonnes, according to the data from the General Administration of Customs. DNV GL Grants AiP for DSIC Shuttle Tanker, Crane Designs

Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Co. Ltd. (DSIC) has received Approval in Principle (AiP) certificates from classification society DNV GL for a new shuttle tanker and a column stabilized crane unit designs. The certificates were handed over at the Marintec China trade fair in Shanghai. Lu Xiao Hui, Vice President and Chief Technical Officer of DSIC, said, “DSIC and DNV GL have successfully collaborated on joint design development and classification for various ship types and offshore units since the 1980s. With these two latest AiPs, DSIC further enriches our product portfolio to the benefit of our clients. PSA International Ventures into South-Western China

Bureau Veritas Offshore Rolling Research Rewarded

A team in the R&D department of  international classification society Bureau Veritas, working with Brazil’s Petrobras, has been awarded the prestigious OMAE 2013 Best Paper of Offshore Technology Symposium for its paper detailing ground breaking research into second-order rolling of FLNGs. The basic research in the paper has led to a Joint Industry Project involving nineteen companies including most of the energy majors and managed by Bureau Veritas which is developing harmonized guidelines for the estimation of roll motions of FPSOs.

The coastal fast rescue vessel 'Dong Hai Jiu 202' has been delivered by Alfai Southern Shipyard to the Donghai Rescue Bureau. CIC Boluomiao Shipyard, Zhuhai, delivers 3 oil-spill response vessels to regional safety agency. Deputy general manager of Guangzhou Maritime Administration Bureau Lin zungui, deputy director of China Maritime Safety Administration Shen jixun, director Xiao weizhe and other managers of Boluomiao shipyard (CIC) attended the ceremony, which was hosted by secretary of the Party committee Zhang Kaiyi.
