German propulsion specialist SCHOTTEL launched a newly developed variant of its rim thruster (SRT). Covering the power range up to 500 kW, the new retractable rim thruster (SRT-R) offers low noise emissions and tailor-made solutions for a wide range of applications. FURUNO of Japan Increases Investment in ENL

ENL Group and FURUNO Electric Co. Ltd of Japan have announced that FURUNO has increased its investment into the New Zealand company to a total of 29.5%. The new level of investment is an increase from the initial 10% announced in July 2014. ENL, founded in 1945, has an impressive and unbroken 70-year history in the marine electronics industry. Award winning multi-beam sonar manufacturer WASSP Ltd. debuted its latest system – now for super yacht applications. WASSP-Wireless has been designed to address superyacht captains’ concerns about underwater obstacle avoidance, hull damage or grounding the vessel. New Cat® Powered Marine Hybrid System

Developed for all engine platforms with electrical specialists Aspin Kemp & Associates (AKA), the system package utilizes AKA’s XeroPoint Hybrid marine propulsion system and provides fuel savings of up to 25% and even emissions reductions. A recent CARB study found a 73% reduction in PM, 50% reduction in NOx & 26% reduction in CO2. Significant improvements are also seen in performance, control and noise levels. Marine Diesel Engines Showcased at Dubai Show

Tognum showcases its latest MTU-brand Series 2000 and 4000 yacht engines at the Dubai International Boat Show. The company’s exhibits will also include automation and service solutions. The Series 2000 M94 marine engine boasts the highest performance values in its class and an improved power-to-weight ratio. An increase of up to 8 percent in power output has been achieved over the previous model. Available in 8, 10, 12 and 16-cylinder versions, the engine covers the 930 to 1,940 kW (1,250 to 2,600 bhp) range at 2,450 rpm.
